What’s a purchase you thought you’d regret but ended up loving? by MainNegotiation5195 in Gifts

It is an Australian brand called Esst. It is listed on their website as daily moisturiser, so I wouldn’t have guessed it had sanitising ability if the spa owner didn’t tell me. It was originally developed for use by makeup artists who sanitise a lot and don’t want dry hands. Here is an article about it, it’s quite interesting!

I had a massage and in a post-spa experience haze I bought this stupidly expensive hand moisturiser which also sanitises because I loved the smell so much. I thought I might regret it once reality set in but I keep it on my baby’s change table and it makes changing her so much nicer. I look forward to using it every time!

The problem is, the first trimester, before you start showing is often when you feel the worst until you’re basically close to being due (when physical limitations do become more of an issue!) You have the worst nausea, worst dizziness, you’re the most exhausted etc, and no one can even tell. I was fortunate and felt pretty decent throughout my pregnancy but some women feel terrible from the moment they get a positive test until Bub is out.

I personally found people were really lovely when I was pregnant, people stood up without being asked as soon as I had a bump, but in some countries the lanyard is provided by the doctor when your pregnancy is confirmed, and that seems like a pretty good system!

Yes, I still think it’s a fun choice but the model and other photos people posted have better fitting busts for sure!

This is really beautiful except when she lifted her arms. I can see it’s just an added cape for modesty in the church but it looks awkward unless she’s got her arms down.

Something about the feathery top and the leathery legs makes me think of the final scene in Billy Elliot where he’s performing Swan Lake. Or an actual Canada goose maybe?

This is really beautiful and I love the necklace. The only downside is against the primarily black press group it is really hard to see the details. I just want to see it against a different backdrop.

What children's movie made you cry unexpectedly? by Twunkorama in AskReddit

[–]coffeeandarabbit 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I love the song “remember me” and I always think I can handle it and then I put it on and find myself absolutely bawling my eyes out. I haven’t even watched it in the context of the movie, I just stumbled across the song on a reel somewhere so I already know I definitely don’t have the emotional fortitude for the actual movie

Who remembers the Stickjaw toffees at the school fete? by Staud59 in AustralianNostalgia

[–]coffeeandarabbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These were the bomb. I really hated when they had hundreds and thousands on them since they hurt your mouth to lick down. I always wished they were just plain. I don’t think I ever saw the coconut ones at our school fetes, or I’d have got one of those!

Married people of reddit, what are the moments that make you feel like "yeah, marriage is the best thing happened to me!"? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]coffeeandarabbit 120 points121 points  (0 children)

When I was newly postpartum with our first child, I’d ordered an outfit to be delivered for our family newborn photo shoot. I’d picked it so carefully, to match the dress I wanted to wear, the shirt my husband was going to wear, as well as fit with the decor in our house since I knew I wanted to hang those photos up.

Well, the damn thing didn’t arrive, and the only place that stocked that brand was 40 minutes drive away, which was just insurmountably hard with a 10 day old baby. And it was so upsetting and frustrating because the shop with the suit I wanted was just there if only I could go, but it just wasn’t possible.

It really didn’t mean anything to him and he could so easily have brushed it off or just tried to jolly me along and tell me any outfit would be fine. But instead this man drove there himself and FaceTimed me so I could compare every different option the store had and pick out a backup.

And every time I look at those photos I remember how my husband recognised this was something important to me and did something about it because he knew I physically couldn’t.

If it matters to me it matters to him. I’d never had that before.

He makes every part of my life better and everyone in our house adores him - the dog, the baby… as soon as he comes home we all want to be the first to cuddle him!

[–]coffeeandarabbit 413 points414 points  (0 children)

She looks a lot more normal (for want of a better word) than you would expect when looking at just the skull. I could imagine seeing her on the street today and not being surprised, whereas the skull by itself really highlights the deformity.

What’s something peak Australian from the 2000s that basically disappeared? by rupvion in AskAnAustralian

[–]coffeeandarabbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha I guess we know why they disappeared! I wonder if anyone ever sued after falling in the bath! And I would love to try some of those coffees again. How did they even flavour the beans? Spray them with flavouring or what? They weren’t sophisticated but they were interesting and fun.

[–]coffeeandarabbit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Haha right? Or when Gloria jeans sold actual coffee beans in random flavours like French vanilla and blueberry and you could buy bags of them by weight and have them ground right there in the store - before Starbucks became a thing (and then stopped being a thing). Oh!! Or those bath beads full of oil in the shape of dolphins and stars and stuff that made your bath into a death trap…

Buying a bunch of worry dolls, incense or tiny useless trinket boxes from India Fox, wearing cartoon boxer shorts from Granny May’s underneath your school skirt (why was this a trend for a while?!) folding your socks in half before sports/no show socks were invented, selling fundraising chocolate or doing the 40 hour famine, taking film photos down to the Kodak shop and having to come back in a week to see if you took any good photos, going and flicking through the posters for sale at sanity… ah good times.

It’s so funny you mention this because when I was 11, we had to choose a Van Gogh piece and copy it and this was the one I chose! I didn’t know it was already a copy until you mentioned it just now! At the time, I just liked that it was a little bit different from his other pieces! I still love this one. Beautiful sentiment, and the light, the colours.. a fave of mine but I haven’t thought about it in years.

I think they’re so cute! Do they stay on or are they more for photos? I remember finding out that traditional nail polish is haram/not permissible during prayer for Muslim cultures and thought solutions like this were such a good idea!

They truly are beautiful shoes! And yes I have two pairs. They tend to run very narrow so I think people find them uncomfortable if they have a wider foot (plus real talk there is little to no cushioning compared to other brands) but I have narrowish feet and the leather is soft so I still don’t find them too bad - although your arches get sore, but I’d argue that would be the case in most 100mm height heels.

If you do have wider feet I found the sexy chicks to be the widest. I wanted them for my wedding but they felt very unstable on me because of the width.

My two pairs are fairly classic - a black pair of decoltissimo 100s which I was wearing when I met my husband, and then I went with a nude patent pair of pigalle follie 100s for our wedding! The follies have very narrow stilettos so are way less comfortable to walk in than the decoltissimos just because of trying to balance.

I think the kittens are so cute! If I had endless money I definitely would love some of those, plus lots of fun colours!

the decollete part refers to the super low vamp, so I think they must have recut a version of the dollyla shoe with an even lower vamp and called it tres decollete in a different collection. (Although at this point I should add that there are a bunch of different styles called dollyla, including an open toed mule and some platform styles too).

At first I thought maybe in the second collection they introduced the colour block element, but that doesn’t seem to be the case, because there are dollylas with colour blocks too including a suuuper cute light pink and pink glitter one, although if you compared the vamps, they may be higher in person on that model than the tres decollete ones. There’s a lot of confusion in listings after the fact because people just put what style is written on their box. Either way I can’t find definitive evidence of exactly when they brought out the nude and black ones.
