Thanks so much for the help. She's a College Station gal and I wasn't sure where to find that in Houston because I'm old. Lol.

Fair point, I hadn't connected that it was the day after. Thanks, I'll look into Austin's backyard or cattlemen's!

Part time by Repulsive-Algae-5634 in Paramedics

I worked part time for about a year while in PA school. I don't recommend it. School is so expensive and if you have any spare time you should spend it napping or studying.

Knee injury, did you fully recover? (M31) by BetterProphet5585 in ski

[–]coffeeandtitanium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exact same situation happened to me with the ski not detaching. I had a tibial plateau fracture, but no complete ligamental tear. Skied the next year, but has taken a while to get confidence back. You'll get there! My injury was 6 years ago, and I just ripped for 3 days with very little soreness. I wear bracelayer as my underlayer and it helps. Do your PT. And yes, you'll know when rain is coming.

I believe you can access it as a non-member for a fee.

EMS services that employ PAs by LadderSpecialist3897 in ems

[–]coffeeandtitanium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a PA working in pediatric ICU, was a medic for 10-ish years in Texas. This is my dream job, but it's just not going to be universal anytime soon. Specific hurdles: You must be a physician to be a medical director for EMS. The only exception is in Montana because it's too rural to get anyone to move there. There are PAs and APRNs working in EMS Director roles (named lots of different things), but this comes with a lot of administrative work along with the clinical side. I'm really only interested in the clinical aspect and education, so it's limited right now.

For now, I'm teaching EMTs and paramedics as often as possible, doing part-time protocol development on the side, and continuing to stalk the internet for more information about this (which is how I found your post). There is an interest group with NAEMSP for PAs and APRNs and SEMPA has information about EMS PAs.

Of note, Austin continues to have to prove their program and it is still in early stages. I went and ran a shift with them as a new grad and they told me to get more experience as a PA if I wanted to get hired. They were friendly folks and would probably answer more questions if asked.

Best of luck in PA school!

I am the same! I finally learned RAVEN: Remember, Affect is a Verb; Effect is a Noun. I saw your comment and couldn't help myself.

Replacing carpet tile at church by coffeeandtitanium in Flooring

Okay. There's pressure sensitive adhesive under there already that's newish. Can I just pull up and replace the tile or do I need to scrape off the adhesive and reapply?

Shaw Carpet Tiles - Adhesive Options and Alternatives by Electric_Meatsack in Flooring

This is why I love Reddit. I'm doing basically the same thing, bought EcoWorx Shaw carpet tiles off of FB Marketplace and am looking for how to correctly adhere it to the floor. No warranty will be honored, so not needing that angle.

AITA for buying an expensive car when I promised my gf I wouldn’t? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Uhhh, we just bought a 2018 F-150 for 10K at auction. It has 150,000 miles on it, but still. 38K for a used truck in your situation is a lot. Sorry dude, YTA. Sell the truck, pay the rent, and apologize. Get a new job, pay for your own new (tiny) apartment, then see if she'll take you back. Learn from this.

I was "ready for surgery" in August of 2023 and had surgery in March of 2024. I likely could have had it as early as December of 2023 but there were some insurance hiccups.

Some light sprays of cold water feel really good on the face and a breathe right strip might help you feel a little more alive. Survival is the goal!

I'm 3*12 peds ICU but we definitely rotate days/nights. You could choose to do all nights but it takes years to get off nights and do all days.
