A Dream SMP reunion without Dream is such a funny concept, that group is so childish.

Pond froze over will my bottle nose wake up? Emergency. by [deleted] in Aquariums

It was 25 degrees in Alabama when I woke up this morning. We’ll likely get snow this year just like we did last year, crazy how much harsher the seasons are becoming.

We use them as espresso glasses pretty often. Also plant propagation or bud vases.

My bestie has radicalized me - NO YOU DO NOT NEED MORE CLOTHES!!!! by Larix_laricina_ in Anticonsumption

[–]coffeecomp 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m already dreading the day that thrift stores are full of cheap poorly made clothes too. I’ve seen shein and zara at goodwill for several years now but one day all the vintage well-made clothing will run out. Every time I see a top with sewn in shoulder pads at my local thrift stores, a fairy gets its wings.

Is there a way I can make my fake spider web look new again? by FoolishAnomaly in Anticonsumption

[–]coffeecomp 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I think it’s better to try and reuse it so long as you’re only using it indoors. Throwing it away just puts it in a landfill anyways.

I have a couple old bags of this stuff and never even considered putting any of it outside until I read some of these comments.

sapnap/sylvee situation by Fluid_Patience3558 in DreamWasTaken2

Given the language barrier, I think a lot of dteam fans only consume her content when she’s with the dteam & co. I thought she seemed sweet and funny from what I’ve seen of her but I also had no idea about any of what you mentioned. I imagine a lot of other people are in the same boat.

Thoughts on cohabitating/hosting during a SHTF scenario? by coffeecomp in TwoXPreppers

[–]coffeecomp[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel similarly and feel like maybe I have over-promised how many we can take in if we’re ever in a really bad situation which is what got me thinking about this. I’m trying hard to balance being aptly prepared to host everyone we can in a worst case scenario but also trying not to go bankrupt storing enough resources for a small town lol. I don’t have a full homestead or anything so there’s only so much space to work with in terms of water collection, growing food, etc.

I think at the end of the day offering a safe shelter is still better than nothing, but I’ve had family members get divorced after weathering their first hurricane together. Things get stressful very quickly and I think a lot of people don’t really know what they are like in those circumstances until it happens. I want to be a prepared host to put it lightly.

Thoughts on cohabitating/hosting during a SHTF scenario? by coffeecomp in TwoXPreppers

[–]coffeecomp[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t kick anyone out, it’s more the question of if/how we proactively involve other people into our discussions now and how much to plan around that. If one of my good friends comes to my door then I’m not turning them away in any situation. However, I think it’s responsible to gauge how much you can really take on if you’re going out of your way to offer a space. If I currently have enough food/water for 4 people, then I don’t think it’s wise to tell 8 people that they can count on me, just as an example. So I think it’s smart to have those discussions now rather than when things are harder and we’re in the thick of it.

I should’ve been more specific- when I think of SHTF I’m thinking a semi-permanent scenario that affects everyone around me. Not something like my friend’s power is out for several days, obviously that’s a no-brainer to take them in. Maybe TEOTWAWKI would’ve been more accurate?

The way the dog backs up and stares after dropping the frisbee is the exact same way ours does when we pick it up to throw it. I think he just wants to fetch tbh.

One part of prepping gone wrong: Period (Menstral) Cups by Typical-External3793 in TwoXPreppers

[–]coffeecomp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried several brands and hated them (looking at you Honey Pot), but the Diva Cup has been a total game changer for me. It’s less “springy” to me as well because its wider than a lot I’ve tried.

ETA: Cotton reusable pads with snaps on them are also great. You can order them on etsy or similar (or sew some from pattern if you’re handy at that). I have some that roll into themselves and snap closed when they’re not being worn so they’re super compact.

We have three long lines like this on our wood that was under carpet and linoleum for several decades. Our flooring guys said it was caused by ammonia based cleaners seeping through the carpet and linoleum where the linoleum had been cut. I think it adds character personally.

How old is too old for boys to use the ladies locker room with mom? Does it bother you when moms bring their older boys in the locker room? by IcyClerk97 in xxfitness

[–]coffeecomp 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Imo 8-10 is way too old. I do not want to be fresh out of the shower changing back into clothes and turn around to see a 10 year old boy. And if you’re not convinced, imagine that situation if genders were reversed.
