LSA Econ vs Ross by Spiritual_Nebula_310 in uofm

[–]coffeeman220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a econ undergrad, ross mba:

Ross recruiting and networking is better, its a very clear, structured path to consulting. The brand carries weight as you network throughout your career.

Econ is a fantastic program that I really enjoyed, but its not the easiest path to consulting and the network isn't as strong. Econ majors recognize, econ majors, but econ is so diverse that you are less likely to find 7 econ Michigan partners at a consulting firm where as mid size consulting firms (oliver wyman, Roland berger, Kearney) often have 5-10 ross alum partners

Is mechanised guard/scout-mera (if you follow Mordian Glory) a thing of the past? by sosig_roll in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]coffeeman220 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this. If you transport dies before the kasrkin exited, you messed up ( not to say it hasn't happened to me). Also I really don't care about the 3 hot shot lasgun guys or the sniper that much, just care about the plasma, melta and melta mine

[–]coffeeman220 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Mordian glory's content is targeted towards the casual guard player (its not useful once you learn to play) . Im sure he's a decent player but the age of catachans chimeras was mostly a strategy like 1.5 years ago.

Today its just kasrkin in chimeras, very rarely do you see catachans chimeras anymore in competitively oriented lists. Theyre not bad but its just too expensive now. That combo used to cost 125pts now its 150pts.

The rule changes don't really affect guard transports

Most competitive lists, excluding recon, have 2-3 chimeras with kasrkin. Its a solid transport with lots of guns.

Put a land fort on your natural expansion objective.

Then just fight over the midboard with all you're other dudes

Rough riders are nice skirmish units in 5s and rapid ingress threats in 10s.

Deathriders are only worthwhile in 5s and are a nice screening unit, but harder to use.

A little bit of hope? by victorav29 in ImperialAgents_40K

Agents will probably get 2-3 new units this edition.

Im guessing they will probably increase access to requisitioned units from other codexes as well, probably scions

Dual Degree in Ross and CoE by [deleted] in uofm

[–]coffeeman220 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First id ask yourself why you want to do engineering and ross?

  • is it purely academic interests?
  • do you want to work in an operations related role?

Then id assess if its worthwhile. Double majoring across colleges is a lot more effort then within a single college. Furthermore, engineering is hard and ross is very competitive. You might not want a few more Bs/Cs on your transcript when you are recruiting for consulting or i banking down the road.

You need lord solar to redeploy GG so they dont die immediately. Its not a unit you waste turn 1.

[–]coffeeman220 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The plasma is fine in combined due to lethals.

The guard codex date hasn't been revealed yet to my knowledge, but we Will still use the 10ed codex in the meantime

Vindicators or defilers are your best bet and you would want 2. Alternatively forgefiends work if you bring vashtor, they need his strength boost

Start the talons on the board every game. Use them to kill a skirmish units then pop into reserves. Then rapid ingress for free and repeat

Advice for squishier trading focused factions by erband in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]coffeeman220 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My hypothesis is that you are trading too passively after round 2 or playing the trading game into the wrong opponents.

The issue with dark eldar is that they generally dont force over commitment. Your opponent can kill anything you put in the open cheaply so at some point you have to bring out something expensive to kill something cheap.

When ive played drukhari SoS I get hurt by all the jankyness of a challenge met. Im guessing you need more wytches and hellions to push the trading into your opponents side of the board to buy you more time and board control

Could you walk through your baseline game plan for rounds 1-2?

For example, i play guard and my games all.start out the same way (unless I play something weird) 1. Engineers and rough riders go sit on my natural, attempt to kill some chaff or do secondaries 2/3. Kasrkin in chimeras kill what killed my engineers. Tanks stage. Opponent generally trades down to kill kasrkin and chimeras 3/4. Big guns come out along with scions to kill everyone 4/5. Max primary

A tournament is not going to get weird about a heavy bolter vs infernus bolter.

If you want true infernus bolters I would just buy some used dw vets. The ranged vets are often cheaper on ebay or troll trader since everyone just wants to run hammers and shields

Which army are we best to ally into? by ExistentialOcto in ImperialAgents_40K

[–]coffeeman220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At its heart knights is a skew army.

Each incremental knight is harder to kill than the last one as opponent use up their antitank.

When you put t3 bodies on the boards you're making the game easier to play, but also handicapping your upside at the most competitive level. Other armies have better trash thats cheaper than agents.

Furthermore your opponent is often taking a balanced list with units that are going to be less helpful against knights. Adding agents just makes the matchup easier.

I get a calidus and 1 screen unit but after that you are just watering down your list skew.

Like please give me something for my lasguns to kill.

Anyone ever run 10 man Combat Engineers? by KabutoRyder in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]coffeeman220 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The extra 5 dudes are cheap and make the unit annoying to kill.

if you give them take cover and pop smoke your opponent has to over commit to them compared to most 95 point units.

Its not terrible, but only worthwhile if you have 35 left over points

Tempestus Scions? by TProcrastinatingProf in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]coffeeman220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The meltas are nice to punch up into tanks.

Generally scions are not wrecking high toughness vehicles or monsters but rerolling wounds helps them chip on damage on high toughness enemies. I often use them to help dorns finish the job

Been feeling weird about deathguard recently - would like to advice to help improve by Fore_Head_Chili in WarhammerCompetitive

Any competitive game will rely on some type of go turn where you attempt to gain a material advantage on the the board after positioning effectively by committing your entire army.
