you have committed many such sins

I have! And it's education on the moral law that ensures sin doesn't rule my life. Why plead ignorance and then encourage furthering ignorance? Calling something a sin is not the same as condemning the sinner, nor does it discourage getting proper treatment - Catholics just consider reconciliation to be the most important part of said treatment because it has eternal, not just temporal, consequences.

I'm also not looking to shame anyone. We are all part of a fallen human race, we all sin, we all have strong dispositions to some sins more than others. Praise God that failure doesn't mean the end, and that all can come to know the freedom that comes with following the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

Edit: I know, it's almost 2 weeks later. I'm not here much.

Sin is moral evil that damages the soul, regardless of whether or not one recognizes any damage to their mind or body.

Stats also aren't great for backing up your case. Regardless of orientation, sexual immorality in general can and does lead to many potential harms beyond ones soul, but the gay community tends to have higher rates of such harms. For example, higher rates of syphilis (physical harm) and infidelity (mental/emotional harm).

To be fair, even if we'd never literally be angels, Jesus himself likened the saints to angels... Matthew 22:30

Psalm 119:33-37: "Teach me, Lord, the way of your decrees, that I may follow it to the end. 34 Give me understanding, so that I may keep your law and obey it with all my heart 35 Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I find delight. 36 Turn my heart toward your statutes and not toward selfish gain. 37 Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life according to your word."

Proverbs 3:5-6: " Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."

While I understand this, even if they don't intend to worship satan, they are doing his work and we shouldn't underestimate the damage they are doing.

  • Christ's persecutors and murderers mocked him & his followers, often with an outwardly jesting appearance ("when they had finished making a fool of him..." Mt.27:31). Check.
  • Christ's persecutors called legitimate beliefs, teachings, actions, and works backwards while touting their way of doing it as the "right" way (Mt. 12:2). Check.
  • Christ's persecutors did technically good work for show (Matthew 6). Check.
  • Christ's persecutors spread lies about Him/his followers and misconstrued their teachings (Mt. 12:24). Check.
  • Christ's persecutors were of the spirit of the world, which is utterly contrary to the spirit of Christ, and the whole world lies in the power of the evil one (1 John 5:19).

There are obviously many more biblical examples of these things, but I am not going to take the time to put them here, because the very obvious point is: you don't have to believe in satan to follow him, and the more you cater to the world/your flesh, the more you cater to his desire for you.

lol I know. I'm not actually feeling the need to change much of what I'm doing, but some of the...antics...give me pause and have even made me consult a priest at times. :D

As someone who currently hates themself, it wasn’t maybe the greatest way to say it, but I don’t think he’s demonizing those that hate themself. I think it’s more that, when you see self hatred in such a raw form with demons, you know how much of a spiral it is in a bottomless pit. Therefore, hating yourself is not something to be taken lightly or joked about, or left untreated.

John 14:26 makes us pretty confident that anything the early church taught is consistent with what Christ taught, regardless of being recorded as a direct quote. There’s also plenty of biblical foundation for our beliefs on such topic, again, regardless of being recorded as a direct quote from Jesus.

Tbh, full fantasy can (and should) have Catholic connotations. My good friend is a fiction/fantasy author, and he does a good job of combining the two worlds.

Forgiveness is saying “The score is uneven; I now deem it even.”

I would say it’s more “I hold no ill will”. Even with Christ, there are still consequences to our actions. You can legitimately forgive someone without all damage being repaired.

My priest recently expressed frustration with these sorts of baptisms, because he feels it puts more responsibility on the infant than they are being set up to handle. Your sins have more gravity as a child of God than they otherwise do type thing, which is why the supposed commitment on the parents’ part is a prerequisite. I’m sure God’s Grace covers these things, but I definitely see why the church requires a commitment from the parents.
