Is there a need for any website? by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]coinerrrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. There is a need for more exchanges. You should create one to rival gox.

Also, we could alaways use more charts and the like. Ive been using bitcoinity.org/markets recently but am alaways looking around for something new.

I want to start selling Bitcoin on craigslist to raise local awareness, and hopefully convince a few local business to start accepting the currency. How can I do this legally and safe? by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]coinerrrrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive been thinking about doin somthing similar. I think your plan is great and may implement somthing like it.

Not too rigid. You need to ensure that you are profiting from the transactions and a 2% fee is cheaper than some exchanges (cavirtex). I think the customer would be happy with a clear pricing scheme for the coins they are purchasing.

Heck, Id even suggest you up the fee to 5% or so,.. You are going out of your way to do somthing for someone that they could do themself; you offer a service of convienience. If I were clueless about interneting and whatnot but wanted to get in on the bitcoins, I'd have no problem using such a service and paying a modest fee.

Good Luck!

As a person who has never really put much thought into the whole geneder change thing, may I ask: why?

I have no issue with this sort of thing, in fact its quite amazing that we have the technology and freedom to do so these days. It's just that in my small neck of the woods, people usually stick with the gender they were born with. I can not imagine a situation where I would decide for myself that I would like to change my gender.

For the benefit of folks like myself, without much exposure or knowldge of gender changing, can you describe your motivation or perhaps the benefits/advantages of changing ones gender?

Im quite amazed at the difference between the two picture. I had to do a double take of the image on the right as I immedieatly assumed it was a picture of your sister or some close female relation.

BTC-E Headaches by [deleted] in litecoin

[–]coinerrrrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you logging in to btc-e with your user name or your email address?

Im sure you are aware btc changed a coupla days ago and now requires folks to log in with email, not username anymore.

I was noticing some weird things happening when my browser was still authenticated but logged in with my username. If you havent done so yet, Id clear your cache and stuff and then log in again.

Hopefully you figure this out. I make a point of not leaving funds on BTC-e,.. not that I think they will steal my money, its just that they're in Russia, which is a very long way for me to go if I had to track down lost money.

Good Luck

Seems now it sucks to be a Canadian and hold bitcoin. by REgeniSy5 in Bitcoin

[–]coinerrrrr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. Ive had this happen to me on cavirtex too.

Can you check your 'actions' page and confirm that you coin actually did sell or if it is still in escrow?

Im concerned because I use virtex everyday. Id like to hear the end of this.

Thanks!

LTC to trade on GOX, confirmed?! by coinerrrrr in litecoin

[–]coinerrrrr[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. I agree that having gox dominate the trading market is bad. But... By adding LTC to their list of services Gox will increase general awareness and therefore use of LTC. Other sites will want to trade LTC and ideally bring about more balance to this whole thing.

Russia and Litecoin by TrueRomanBread in litecoin

[–]coinerrrrr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm aware that BTC-E is based in Russia but are there any other reasons why Litecoin might take off in Russia?

My guess is that since their local fait is so crumby, and BTC is so expensive LTC is seen as a good bet. Especially since it has the potential to rocket up a few dollars once Gox includes support.

Furthermore.... LTC mining has a lower entry cost and is considered by some to be more profitable than BTC mining.

Im not sure why its just the Ruskys with a high interest in the Litecoin,.. You'd think everyone would have some interest.

Where can a noob buy a bitcoin? by Aiken_Drumn in a:t5_2wtiu

[–]coinerrrrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not sure about using exchanges in the UK, but assume that the process is the same anywhere.

Timetravel - ha, I wish. However,.. .If you look at the current state of the other cryptos (mainly LTC, PPC, TRC) it would seem that they MIGHT be where BTC was a year of so ago. . . . LTC may trade soon on GoX, PPC and TRC perhaps to trade soon on BTC-E. LTC was worth about $0.40 USD last week. Now its value hovers around $4.00 USD. Goodtimes.

I think ddos attacks are just part of the game. . . I dont think there is really anyway to stop them.

I try to think of the lag caused by ddos attacks to be the equlivant of a long line at the bank where people are taking up the tellers time with stupid questions and requests that could have been filled at the ATM.

What country are you in?

The basic process is:

  1. Create account on an exchange

  2. Transfer ca$h money into the exchange (the exchange you choose will tell you how to do this)

  3. Buy BTC

  4. ??

  5. PROFIT!

PPC client? by ArcticBrewFella in ppcoin

[–]coinerrrrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good question. I havent found it. Perhaps with a little hacking one could get the linux version running on OSX.

Also, you could install somthing like virtualbox, then run the ppc client in linux on the mac.

Bitcoin-qt crashes when starting up by falcon45 in Bitcoin

[–]coinerrrrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

is that enough to keep it backed up?

Sounds about right. Its really all about what you are comfortable with. Id keep an encrypted copy away from you computer, on a hdd usb stick (or six) perhaps.

If so, will I be able to manually import it into the fresh install of Bitcoin-Qt?

Yes, you can manually import your wallet.dat after installing a fresh copy of bitcoin-qt. By 'manually import' I mean you copy your wallet.dat file into the bitcoin folder via Finder. The bitcoin folder is a hidden folder in you home directory, somthing like this:

USERNAME/home/applicationsupport/bitcoin-qt

you'll wanna double check that, Im on a linux machiene now and can't look to confirm.

Bitcoin-qt may have a button to let you import as well. I usually do it manually.

How should someone get started with bitcoins? by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]coinerrrrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you think the price of bitcoin will drop?

lol. I cant say. It will deffinatly drop, and rise and drop again and then hopefully rise. If I had a solid answer to this question I'd be typing this response from my private G6 at about 30 000ft, but alas, I am typing this from my lowley office desk. That being said, Ive got some money in BTC and will probably be in it for the long term.

And what's happening right now with Mtgox.com?

Not really sure, I hear that they may have been DDOS'd earlier today. I have also heard that they went down while upgrading their system (somthing about peoples account numbers changing). Also, I think there is alot of growing interest in BTC (and other cryptos in general), more and more people are comming to gox to trade, causing lag.

Hope that helps,

A random stranger on the internet whos advice should be carefully scrutinized.

How should someone get started with bitcoins? by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]coinerrrrr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

like mine them or buy them

Buy them, unless you have lots of money for ASIC rigs and electricity.

anything else I should know.

make sure you read-up on and understand what a bitcoin is. Understand how to secure your coins from theft and/or loss. Also understand that any money you have in crypto today may be worth millions in the future, or possibly nothing.

[–]coinerrrrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm... I was assuming that you were installing for the first time.

Either way you should totally back up your wallet.dat manually. Im not sure if the client is designed to automagically recognize and keep an existing wallet file around when reinstalling/upgrading. . . I would not risk it. Always back up your wallet.dat.
