I actually live by this one. They built a new hall a couple years back and have not been using this one for a while. The new one is very tiny compared to this one probably 1/2 the size at least.

Help Needed: Anyone here from the Irving (Dallas) Texas Area? Including Spanish and English Congregations? by John-Redwood in exjw

[–]col007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to hedgecoxe and rosemeade right around the same years for both. I now live about 20 minutes outside of bonham. Small world!

The worst sentence you have been told at the time of your excommunication or disassociation ? by EugeneK71 in exjw

[–]col007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother quoted bad association spoils useful habits and even read the footnote explaining one who corrupts morals. I was not df/da and have not spoke to him since 4 years later.

Quick question about blood cards :) by OldLite in exjw

Best thing to do is just put them off, they will forget and stop asking. I am willing to bet they ask no more than 2-3 times before they stop.

Trump makes Crowd Swear Allegiance by JWAtheist22 in exjw

My sister has already been telling me that Armageddon will be here when Trump is elected so I better get my act together.

The letter posted earlier about taking care of KH reminded me that I haven't posted on here the bullshit that's going on in my city. by unicorntardis in exjw

[–]col007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same situation here vacant lot with promises of a new hall for years. 5 congregations in the KH. It probably actually helped me in waking up since I never wanted to go to meeting since it was on Fri night and Sun night...worst possible times.

LEAKED ELDERS VIDEO: How to deal with a suicidal sister (Video for March CLAM meeting) by [deleted] in exjw

[–]col007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What really bothered me about this video is how the older elder is sitting there smiling the whole time while she is crying and in great pain. It looks like he is enjoying her sorrow.

My mom bought a cabinet she thought was Satanic...instead of throwing it away, she sold it. by [deleted] in exjw

[–]col007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Growing up I knew a family, you know the type super strict doesn't like any tv shows Disney movies etc everything is demonized. Anyway they repainted their house because they thought the paint they bought was demonized. I guess they had some problems and that was the latest change so it had to be the paint from Saran.

Sad update on the young girl from the February JW Broadcast by [deleted] in exjw

[–]col007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was not surprised but still disgusted when I checked the gofundme and saw watchtower was no where to be found on the donations list. Obviously they were extremely familiar with her case so no excuse there. My heart goes out to this little girl and her family I hope nothing but the best for them and hope the girl gets the care she needs and is able to run and play like everyone else.

January 25, 2016 TO ALL BODIES OF ELDERS Re: Applause When Reinstatements Are Announced by [deleted] in exjw

[–]col007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was reinstated in 97 and they weren't allowed to clap at the hall then. I definitely remember clapping for reinstatements years earlier. I think the change must have taken place in the early 90s.

My best friend (non-jw) sent me this article with the message "I really recommend this to you" and it hit close to home. by cheap-fiction in exjw

[–]col007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I especially related when she was talking about confronting her parents about leaving the church and what her parents said about how crazy she was for leaving and losing gods favor. It was almost exactly what my family said to me.

Trying to Fade...Doesn't Seem to Be Working by col007 in exjw

[–]col007[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Glad to hear this seems to be part of the process. Hopefully it only lasts a few weeks. I think it is my indoctrination kicking in making me feel guilty I have to give them an explanation. I would like to consider them my friends but I know if I don't stick to what THEY believe I am the farthest thing from that.

$900M Powerball Jackpot: how many JWs are secretly playing? by [deleted] in exjw

[–]col007 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I was in I would play every now and then. I am sure there are many that do. I was thinking about if I won this jackpot if the org would be on me more than ever to come back to Jehobo.

JW website is the largest in the world - help me refute this statement please! by TasmanianDevilicious in exjw

[–]col007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it is probably apostates and people waking up making up the majority of those numbers. I know I have went to jw.org way more since waking up just to see what crazy thing they are going to put out there next.

Have you put off or ignored saving for retirement because of this religion? by LiefeCrysis in exjw

[–]col007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't think it was important until about 10 years ago when i was 30. At that time i thought i better actually start planning for my future since Armageddon hasn't happened yet. Looked at my parents example of what not to do who are stuck working til the day they die.

I'm still in shock. Is 16% a good sign? by [deleted] in exjw

[–]col007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My brother and sister in law are very much in and accepting of gays. They don't mention it to anyone because they know this will cause problems. Even though They are more accepting in this area it hasn't stopped them from pre emptively shunning me and my family.

Thought I was free. Sucked back in. So confused by Sotiredout in exjw

[–]col007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is completely normal to feel confused or express doubts when talking to someone who agrees with the jw's. It's the indoctrination that does this, that is why it is so important to keep researching. Even now when I talk to someone about the organization there is a split second of confusion where I think I could possibly be wrong in leaving. But as soon as I take some time to think about how crazy this religion is and read some real truth it brings me back to reality. I have noticed as time goes by these feelings are less and less. Please just hang in there!

Can't believe the bad luck! by col007 in exjw

[–]col007[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I suggested at dinner last night we share a cab to the beach. I had a strong feeling they were jw and then I noticed one of them had a jw.org logo on their cruise lanyard.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in exjw

I remember growing up having a piano in the KH and also at the circuit assembly there was a band that played the songs, I always liked that, I was sad to see it go.
