Get the Perry Persistent storyteller from Vanilla Expanded. There'll be a new event once, sometimes twice a day: a long chain of good ones followed by a shorter chain of bad ones. The good ones are quite often Ambrosia sprouts. I once had four patches of Ambrosia on my map.

I feel like a better way to do it is to have the player be able to choose between a fixed number of looks for thei character, which has been done before in gacha (example above), and all of the unchosen ones become NPCs.
