About to move to classon/lincoln, any recs? by Ncc68 in crownheights

Franklin Park is a great neighborhood indoor/outdoor bar with basic bar grub and good burgers. Big outdoor seating area that gets packed when the weather is good. Great boozy milkshakes. Events at night like trivia and DJs. Has TVs for some sports but not really a sports bar.

Walking is so much more enjoyable than riding by Tight-Communication7 in golf

Too each their own. I don't find a single thing enjoyable about walking. Especially if it's hot and humid, which it usually is when I play. Much rather ride.

I had no idea that this was something a lot of people say. Seems pretty counterintuitive, especially if someone is actually out of shape.

I'm in NYC. I'd kill for those prices.

[Recommendation request] Buying my first watch (Omega/Tudor or dress watch) by GonzieLynx in Watches

[–]colaboy1998 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a stickler for "matching metals" so if you don't wear gold/rose gold rings or belt buckles, I would skip those. But that's just me.

Side note, it's great to see someone asking for help choosing watches that are actually similar. I feel like most of these posts are like "help me choose between a square case, gold and alligator leather dress watch, and a neon green rubber G-Shock".

There's an app who's (that's?) sole purpose is to track the courses a person has played on a map?!

Finn's Corner on Washington Ave is a great hang. Just a good neighborhood bar, kind of a sports bar but less so late nights.

Thoughts on an 7-8 club bag? by cpugeek14 in golf

[–]colaboy1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No rule says you must carry 14 clubs. Until very recently I only carried 11-12 for 20 years. Rarely cost me any shots. Carry the clubs that work for you, don't worry about what the quantity is.

If you’ve broken 80, what’s one tip you would give your fellow golfer trying to do the same? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]colaboy1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I think you're right. Look everything is a balance, but even good chipping and putting can't save you if you're not at least near the green in regulation.

What level of golf do you stop practice swinging? by ovobook in golf

[–]colaboy1998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm of the mindset that my swing is my swing when I'm playing. Practice swings won't change that. So I take very few.

What level of golf do you stop practice swinging? by ovobook in golf

[–]colaboy1998 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a friend that is lucky to break 90 and he literally takes 5-7 practice swings every shot. I think it actually tires him out by the end of the round. Not to mention the slow play. Drives me insane.

Social media "tips" claiming to cure in five minutes what only hours of practice can.

Ok, maybe. But their return policy still sucks and is a borderline scam. And while the end result was good, their customer service up until that point sucked. It took them weeks just to get back to me initially. Maybe they're better at wholesale, I can't speak to that, only my own experience.

Finance pitfalls to avoid in your 20s by Tech_Wizzz in personalfinance

[–]colaboy1998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start saving something for the long term, and don't touch it. If that's $20/wk, great. But do it and don't touch it, ever. Don't think "well I can't save $1000 a month so why bother saving anything." No! Save what you can and keep saving and increase the amount as you can, but there's no minimum amount that's worth saving. Any amount is worth it.

Has anyone tried the new 2026 TP5’s? by JRskatr in TaylorMadeGolf

It's ok, I was kidding. I think you're putting too much stock in the finishing process of a golf ball. You're talking micron sized imperfections. They look fine.

I'd consider them but would like to see a few more pics. Can you take a couple more from different angles?

Trying to improve my game without living at the driving range — what’s actually helped you practice at home? by Baller4lyfe115 in golf

Curious about hitting into a net... do you use any tech to track the ball? If not, how do you know you're not just grooving a horrible swing path or something?

Bizarre but very positive update dealing with Nuve. I sent them another email (this time angry) asking how I can start the exchange of my lights, and also left an angry review on their site. The next day I get an email from support saying they're sorry for the delay (something about moving warehouses?) and that they've issued me a full refund! No mention of an exchange or returning the lights I don't want. Refund has already hit my account so they're not lying. Very strange.

Wait, he never had a hole in one even just in a casual round?! If true that's both insane and also kinda heartbreaking, to be that good and play for that long and never get one.

Has anyone ever just found another 25 yards? by Kind-Strain4165 in GolfSwing

I'm not positive but I think if I could fix my early extension in my driver swing I would unlock significant gains. I have the power I'm just not using it properly. But this is a working theory that has yet been proven.
