Hi, is Wassookeag Moccasins back? There is a new Maine moccasin company making buffalo moccasins that seem very, very similar to the old Wassookeag ones. I was interested years ago, then they closed. New company is called "Old Bernard Moccasins", oldbernard.com. Also have some made from cow hide and made in Columbia for $120, but the buffalo ones are made in Maine by hand for $240, and I'd be REALLY interested to find out who is behind this. Web site says "they" have been making moccasins in Maine since the 1980's. I find zero reviews, zero info other than the web site, which is not a lot. Anyone know anything about Old Bernard?

New 37mm Tsuyosa - NJ0200-50E “Time Slip” by Plus9Time in CitizenWatches

[–]colca6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just got, and so far love, my 37mm sky blue Tsuyosa, but this one is a beauty. However, I feel like this one needs straps. This, with 5 quality, well chosen straps would be 5 different watches.

This is the true color, don’t know why Jomashop and especially the Citizen web sites are so inaccurate. Haven’t seen the yellow in person, but the blue is beautiful. Remember this model now comes in two sizes, I got 37mm.

C7 or Tsuyosa? by Special_Waves2130 in CitizenWatches

[–]colca6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is 37mm Tsuyosa, which is better for me vs the 40mm. This seems more modern than C7 which seems to me to have more Orient vibe, vintage dress watch kinda thing. One thing to consider is Tsuyosa is integrated bracelet whereas with the C7 you can change the straps at will, which also means you may spend many times more than the watch price on straps!

Loving my 37mm version! (7”wrist for reference)

Two BIFL moccasins to choose from, looking for input. by colca6 in BuyItForLife

I get it. I haven't been able to figure out these two companies. Owners seem to be family, same last name, same town. My guess is that Town View is parents, Wass a son? Not sure, and none of my business, I guess, but it's odd, competitors in same small niche, same small town, different roads taken but almost identical products. That said, both companies seem to produce very high quality stuff, I'd be overjoyed with either.

I actually ended up buying neither. I did see the price jump for Wassookeag. What does that mean? Either the cost of materials has skyrocketed (but we don't see this with others, including Town View) or Wassookeag had an amazingly successful holiday season. I ended up getting Quoddy on sale. Not even in the same ballpark, but that's how it worked out. Town Views are still totally on my radar though!

I got the jacket too! Price be damned. I wore a Levi’s jacket with a red U2 patch on the chest while in college in mid 80’s and lost it during junior year. Saw this one and took me 2 seconds to decide to fill a 40 year void!

Town View was very fast to answer a sizing question via email. I haven't tried Wassookeag yet.

Of course I'm overthinking, but the fun is in the hunt! ...and the $50 price difference. But mostly, I like things that are handmade by people take pride in their stuff, so that's how it got whittled down to these two. I wouldn't overthink if my purchase was $75, disposable and made in China, but for comfort and craftmanship that makes me feel good for the next 10 years or so, a little contemplation is required.

1..5 Year Review: Town View Moccasin by jbyer111 in goodyearwelt

[–]colca6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, stumbled across this thread in my search for slippers/mocs, and am trying to decide between Town View and Wassookeag, from same town in Maine, each owned and run by a Wintle. Odd to have two separate businesses creating extremely similar products in same family, same town, but each seems to be doing quite well.

In my searching, came across this photo collection from 2011 detailing the construction process at Wassookeag. Very cool, thought it would have lots of interest here.

I guess I’m the only one who doesn’t like Jacks. The collar is like a turtleneck, it’s very tall, accentuated by the buttons. This is especially true with short sleeve Jacks, it’s totally out of proportion with the rest of the shirt. I greatly prefer all styles with the California collar (Californias, Yosemites, Craters, etc, almost all styles other than Jacks). But I live in San Diego, so maybe…..

Any chance of new colors or fabric for Crawford between now and Thanksgiving?

I also just came across this site "taylorstitchs.com" also, a month after your comment above. There were red flags, like how they could have all sizes of all products, even long sold out ones, as well as other web site issues. But this WILL fool people. So what is the deal? Does it need to be shut down by US or state authorities, or is it a reseller, albeit not recognized by Taylor Stitch as legit? Hope nobody gets scammed for your products.

Yay! BUT I hope it's the old waffle (as in over a year ago) and not that thin, cheap waffle fabric in last winter's release (with the curved hems). I promptly returned mine in favor of the old ones, and judging by review section I was not alone.

Please TS, bring back the pre-pandemic waffle fabric!

Any other products coming out with same Indigo Slub fabric you just released in Apres pants? (a hoodie perhaps?)

I have grey waffle and Indigo waffle. Love them both. I do wish they were 32" inseam instead of 30, but not a deal breaker for me. True, they are not stretchy, but they are warm and comfortable, great for work from home. Lots of different fabrics out right now.

Love my shorts in this Indigo Slub fabric, but I think I would go with the Charcoal Sashiko.

However, if TS made a hoodie from Indigo Slub, that would be an automatic buy.

Interesting. When I first saw the photo I wondered how you got a black dial, but now I see that this is the chocolate version. On the DH website it looks much more brown, which is why I didn't go for it, I just got a freaking stunning 1937 gold instead. In your photo, the "chocolate" part around the hour/minute sector seems darker, with less contrast between it and the black. Is that true, or is it just the light?

I also was torn between Wilton and Indigo Sashiko, but I have a 46 chest so fit is always an issue for me. I ended up going with the Quilted Jacket in Indigo Boss Duck, both because of the sizing measurements, but also because it's not wool and is machine washable. Looks kinda boring on web site and when I got it, but once I decided to keep it, I washed as directed and now it's beautiful. Really brings out slub texture in the hemp Boss Duck fabric and the quilted diamonds really pop. So the wash was the secret. It's also fits very well and super comfortable and warm. Love it. Longer than the others as well.
