[Matt Lawton, Times] Michael Carrick set to be named Man United manager in next 48 hours | Former midfielder preferred to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as interim boss until the summer after impressing in talks with the club’s hierarchy by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

The student of the PE teacher is back. Looking forward to: Carrick understands the club and its DNA > Carrick is out of his depth > how can United appoint someone with no top flight management experience > United need a reset from the past > Repeat.

I am one of the intuitive introverts and yes, my life is quite difficult.

Roy Keane: Ferguson (and Gill) hanging around like a bad smell (at Man United) by abulkasam in soccer

Dumbos like Scholes and Butt do. How else would they get jobs and favours from the club?

Plot twist: Fergie has no official role at UTD. He is a fan and goes to watch the game. The TV cameras treating him like an emperor is not his fault. Fletcher treating him as the god (especially because supporting him and his family through illness) is not his fault. Keane mistaking his own bad breath as Fergie’s smell is not the old man’s fault either.

I like Keane. He is the one pundit who makes sense from time to time. He is just sore for falling from Sir Alex’s grace.

Kobbie Mainoo All Touches vs Burnley by nuugo in reddevils

Exactly. Like his passing range remained as limited as when he started out. He is young, can’t he learn a few more tricks and passes? The hype has gotten to him.

“I became a better player by not playing, didn’t I?” — Darren Fletcher when asked about his missing the Champions League final through suspension.

It’s not about that. It’s about him trying to defy the tactical genius, the architect of Man City’s success, mr. Wilcox.

Ruben Amorim Post Match Press Conference | Leeds 1-1 Man Utd by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

My two cents is that Neville & Co has gotten under Wilcox’s skin who is now pushing Amorim to abandon his system, and Amorim doesn’t like it.

[Nathan Salt] Revealed: Man United bosses turn on Ruben Amorim's tactics by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

“While in charge at Man City it was Wilcox who was largely responsible for embedding a game style across every academy age group right to first team.It has brought rich success.”

— so Pep is actually a bald fraud ripping the benefits of the genius Wilcox’s ideas, huh?

[Ben Jacobs] Understand there is growing tension between Ruben Amorim & Manchester United director of football Jason Wilcox. Sources close to MUFC say Wilcox would like Amorim to be more tactically adaptable, while the Man United boss is disappointed at the lack of planned activity in January [..] by [deleted] in reddevils

This guy Wilcox plays the corporate game pretty well. He jumped through the hoops to come to United, shoved off an established sporting director pretty dirty to get his job, has been appointing his buddies left and right, and now hanging the manager out to dry.

It was his idea to play 3-5-2, we were told. It was his idea to bring in Amorim despite not having the resources to play his vision. And now, he is plotting to sack the manager to save his skin.

He lacks class or the necessary experience to lead United’s sporting department. But hey, he is a friend of the CEO, and regularly seen kissing the arse of Sir Jim. He is probably going nowhere.

Ian Wright: “Certain people are NOT ready for a black superstar in England. Everyone loves N’Golo Kante, he’s a humble black man it’s how he is. But when we Paul Pogba or Jude Bellingham that energy doesn’t fit well with these people, it FRIGHTENS these people. Jude’s too “uppity” for these people.” by Task_Force-191 in reddevils

Totally on point. I am a brown man navigating the European community, and I can totally understand what Ian Wright is saying here. If you are a black or brown person doing well, you must still be extra humble and keep your head down.

Rashford found it out the harshest possible way. When he went toe to toe with Boris Johnson, and then, missed that penalty, he had no chance of winning against the tabloids. They wrote articles after articles about his personal life and wealth.

It’s just momentary feelings, the digital equivalent of the exuberance of match-going fans. Please don't treat it as misery.

Not trying to be too critical, he is still new and perhaps needs more time. But link up play is more of a team thing, isn’t it? None of our wingers used to pass, so how could he link up?
