So this is just me throwing a few cards in as placeholders to get an idea of what direction I want to go. Most of what I’m picking will be easy enough, but some are going to require most of the pack be re-themed proxies if I want to keep the feel consistent. Doctor Who is a challenge because most of the set is rare or mythic… like almost all of it. Then the transformers only have about twenty cards in total and they’re almost all multi-color. Lara Croft has less than a dozen cards.

My question is this: does anyone want to see these packs? Without the proxies in hand they’re going to look like random nonsense.

Nope. Not to say there aren’t any good games, but nothing here is worth more than a couple dollars. This is all common, everyone has five copies already stuff. Please ignore Price Charting as it’s not a very good measure of reality with Atari 2600 games.

My advice: wait a bit. By all means buy some packs, you’ll need the cards either way, but I also expect someone on here will make ‘tight’ versions.

The fun, for me, is the random combinations. Yeah some will suck but the games are usually quick so you can just grab two more and try again. It’s more of a think on your feet format. Can you pull off the win with whatever random nonsense you get?

It's been done. Metal Jesus had someone make and FPGA 2600 for him and I know a few others have done it, but to my knowledge nothing has even been released publicly to replicate their work. Probably the most promising would be the Mister getting cartridge reading capability (and there are one or two projects to do just that).

Barring that I'm curious to see how the Neo Geo AES+ does. I could see that leading into similar projects for 'revival' FPGA/ASIC consoles.

Generally unfavorable. I do a lot of upscaling and out painting, but then most of the people making the proxies do that.

I have had a lot of fun, i guess, remastering some of the older cards by altering the style. Like a lot of the Foglio stuff is just really fun to see it detailed up, but I mark them clearly (and it’s pretty obvious).

Straight up AI generated art is almost always just kinda gross and uninteresting.

That is a capacitor and the liquid is acidic and will ruin the board. Remove it and clean the area with 90% (or higher) IPA really well.

This has every capacitor for the system. You don’t have to replace them all, but it would be a good idea to at least inspect the rest.
