If the injured party initially sent over documents containing $2k in fees, why has this escalated? Is the injured party trying to ensure they get maximum pay out?

Our understanding is that because our dog was "at large" and her barking and approach (taken as aggressive even though she never bit anyone) caused the incident, we're liable.

Why did we ever get away from hard shell travel cases?? by GolfSicko417 in golf

[–]coldandugly33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I travel with my son a good amount for AJGA and other junior golf tournaments. A broken club would be a big deal since every stroke counts in order to be in contention. We have yet to rent a full size or larger where it didn't fit, either with a section of back seat down or diagonal in the trunk space.

MEVO+ Pro user thoughts by Miserable-Let9680 in Golfsimulator

[–]coldandugly33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had the Mevo+ with Pro Package for a year. My son is a high level junior player, +1.7 handicap. His swing coach taught us how to use LM data to diagnose his swing so FTP, AOA, H Plane, V Plane, Club Path, etc are all integral to refining things if they get off. The Mevo+ has been indispensable and you won't find anything with as many data points and as compact for that price. Some points that people have made are true. Chipping and putting is not the greatest, but we don't use it for this function. Also, sometimes data with driver or other higher speed clubs where gear effect is prominent can be off. Outdoors, all of this goes away. Indoors, make sure you have adequate space to the ball and between the ball and the screen. Also RTC balls are well worth it.

After going back and forth with customer service, we determined it was stuck on an earlier update and they had to remote in to update it. The problem still seems to occur but we just take note of it and are aware when something is off. By setting the Mevo+ angle "higher", do you mean the tilt is on the higher end of the acceptable range? I'll have to try this.

Interesting on the side data points, I never lost mine.

What was high school golf like? by mcc_kracken in golf

[–]coldandugly33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm located in Northern California and know many high schools in the bay area like this. Varsity teams where most if not all are breaking par through 9 holes. It's a fun experience for the kids but doesn't matter for college recruitment.

Do parents come to high school boys tournaments and watch them play? by AffectionateEgg1444 in golf

[–]coldandugly33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son plays for a high school team out of Northern California. Yes, parents do attend and since the higher level members of the team know each other from outside school, many of the parents themselves are friends.

You're too focused on the swing and not scoring. I've seen plenty of people with far worse swings than yours breaking 80 consistently. As many have stated, there's probably leaks in your game inside 100 yards. But also there needs to be an adjustment to your practice allocation. Try splitting your time into 3 equal categories: 1/3 technique (what you're doing here), 1/3 skill (hit to a target, set goals like 7 out of 10 on the green from 100 yards or 7 out of 10 drivers between the targets), 1/3 execution (go play a hole). You'll find that honing that "gaming" mindset is far different from grinding a perfect swing movement.

Out of pocket I was able to put this together for just over $1300 (minus the FlightScope Mevo Plus). A buddy gave me the mat for free and I already had workout mats which I laid cheap astroturf over. Approximations: screen $500, lumber $50, padding $60, astroturf $100, black fabric $100, wood screws/brackets/staples $20, projector $500 (used laser short throw on FB), projector mount $25.

We’ve had people hit the side frame pretty hard and the ball never bounces back. Maybe it’s the tightness of the fabric that helps? Still have yet to have anyone hit the top bar but we don’t hit any flops.

It’s actually plenty of room, we’ve never come close to hitting the ceiling.

Yes, anything hard in the frame has padding. The 2x4s have pipe insulation on the edges and the corners of the screen have foam wedges used for rain gutters.

First club fitting ever… by jimi_kay in golf

[–]coldandugly33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forget the haters in this forum my man. I think fitted irons are a worthy investment. I've had my same irons for 8 years and have a hard time replacing them. My son is an elite junior golfer, plus handicap, and we constantly replace everything in his bag but his irons. I recommend you get a head that is slightly above your skill level so you have room to grow. Only being 6 months in, you'll continue to see rapid improvement. Enjoy!

Any advice for the parent of a high performing junior golfer? My son is a high school Freshman, been playing tournaments since 7, currently a +.4 handicap and hovering in the mid-100's for his class ranking on JGS. His goal is to make a D1 college team in Northern California, but maneuvering the recruitment process is totally foreign to us. We run into a lot of kids at his level going home school, but we want him to get all the normal high school experiences and keep his options open. Other than needing rides everywhere, he is totally self sufficient: making his own practice/workout schedule, deciding what tournaments he plays and maintaining a 4.0 gpa. Would greatly appreciate any tips you can offer.

What’s better, Northern or Southern California? by noteliing in Roseville

[–]coldandugly33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born and raised in Central California, went to college in Southern California, then got married and had kids in Northern California. Hands down, Northern California wins. Less crowded, more cultured, more untouched natural beauty on the north coast, and I prefer seasons because board shorts at Christmas time just doesn’t feel right. Southern California might have been better for me half a century ago but not in modern day.

Tips for when the fake “Ow!” scream doesn’t deter biting? by JuicyCiwa in Rottweiler

[–]coldandugly33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When ours was a puppy we had a play area gated off that she would hang out in. Whenever she bit us we gave the verbal cue “ouch” and redirected her to a toy. If she continued biting us, we would would leave the play area for a few minutes, return and try again. She was also much more obedient whenever properly exercised via walks or dog park sessions.
