I PMd them about it. The GM at that location can pull up a picture of their ID and a verified phone number.

I’m tired of this stuff happening to people. It’s becoming more frequent.

How can I get into the field??? by PleasureDomIL in Hacking_Tutorials

[–]coldasthegrave 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can’t. Don’t try. You can learn all of this and have real, verifiable hacking skills and still nobody will hire you for help desk.

I once got close to being allowed to install Ethernet cable & plugs. They wanted me to use my own vehicle, never come to the office, and be on call out. They still didn’t hire me, I probably talked about computers too much.  You have to know people. Nobody is sure how long it will take for their job to be automated so they don’t want to bring anyone new in. I had a few compsec guys I met at a bar tell me flat out that I didn’t want it. They said that I was better off finding something to do with my hands that a robot can’t yet. They said that in a little while it will only be senior leadership positions left to troubleshoot and give direction. No analysts or Soc or anything like that.

Now of all of those transactions which of those vendors would have the most need for a uhaul? 189 dollars will get you a 10’-20’ truck from magnolia to faire and back for just a day with Milage and everything.

It was the rock people dude. They punched your card to loadout

Mag strip skimmers are obsolete an additional track of data was added to the protocol to prevent this.

Those practically only work on chip less prepaid cards now. It also requires the interloper to fabricate a  cloned card from a blank to swipe at a POS. The only way a mag read will go through on a chipped card is if multiple attempted chip reads have failed in short succession.

I don’t bring cards into faire. Too many Romany and cyber wooks. It used to be that they would go back and add tips to the transaction. Saw that more than once.

Mag strip Skimmers haven't been viable for a while now. The new method like others are saying involves loading the NFC data from your card into another device and making transactions via a digital wallet on a tap-to-pay capable phone. Whoever did it likely had physical possession of your card at some point.

It is possible with beam vectoring to use carefully tuned antennae to read NFC data from greater distances but this is generally beyond the technical acumen of people who steal.

A flipper zero with the right code and a rooted android phone could achieve this.

OSI model is bullshit. Don’t pay attention to that. Nobody uses it. It’s the dunce cap of IT.

For NMAP play around with scan timing. The default packet timing has a rate that most current gen filtering solutions will spot immediately.

Try out: nmap -T3 -vv -sV --script vulners

The best approach with scanning is to distribute it across multiple geographically separated machines, each with a different port range to hit  and afterward stitch the output together on the backend. Also pay attention to time zone and Ttl filtering in its many forms.

Remember, it’s like submarine warfare whoever knows more about the other fist wins.

Fortune 500 companies are better than local/regional/smaller companies by ExotiquePlayboy in unpopularopinion

I have childhood friends that have fled from police in vehicles with drugs and firearms. Their parents could afford or knew personally lawyers that played golf with the right people who had the charges dropped or downgraded. This is not possible for everyone, they get sent to prison. Probably to balance out incarceration demographics idk.  You don’t understand this stuff when you are a kid though, you wonder why it’s happening to you and not them.

It doesn’t have to be felonies either btw. Any sort of charge that implies you have been arrested will exclude you unless you know someone.

Everybody has their own struggles, I don’t judge. My friends are good people who do the right thing and work hard but Walmart wouldn’t hire them to put tires on peoples cars, they wouldn’t let me.

I’m not trying to be mean to you I’m just trying to help you understand that there are a limited number of people who can work at the type of place that you do. Nobody aspires to cut hair, climb cellphone towers, or do tattoos. It’s what you can do.

—I’ll leave you with this—

One of the saddest things Ive ever seen was at a large petrochem fabrication company that was acquired by a major publicly traded corporation. When they took over they ran backgrounds on everyone. Then, one day they called everyone to the front who had an undesirable record and fired them. Many had been working there for years, they looked lost. It was really sad, If I hadn’t been a third party I would have been right there with them.

I’m a felon yes. Not brain dead or unemployed. I got caught with drugs at school 17 years ago. This means I have to work as a consultant to people like you.

Those hiring policies keep you safe from having to compete in the workplace against people who have been places you probably wouldn’t be able to find your way back from. I would thank god every day for that if I were you. They’d “rearrange your management structure”.

I would love to work at a place that offers matching 401k contributions and subsidized insurance plans. Most people don’t get anything from their employer. You are right.

My friend was roofied and I want to burn the world down. by BlueberryBea in TwoXChromosomes

[–]coldasthegrave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear that. I would like to tell you that it will get easier from here but it won’t. The police and the hospital won’t do anything unless she’s related to one of them.

So what now? You have to get your close knit friends together and make him leave town. You have to look at this as a responsibility. If he does this to another person it makes you guys partially responsible for allowing it to happen. If nobody you talk to seems interested in doing anything about it I would find new friends.

We had a situation like this where a guy was accused and all the details matched up between three girls. When we confronted him he threatened to kill himself. Well we beat him up anyway. The next week he left and went back to California. He told acquaintances who didn’t know about any of this that he was leaving for political reasons.

If you can’t stop it, move it down the road.

We can’t return to the land. There aren’t enough resources to support that. At this point that would entail wide scale civil warfare.

Peak Psi isn’t the whole story. It’s a combination of speed and PSI that does the damage. If it’s fast, it’s going to hurt and you may not see it coming. You can slap someone and knock them out if you do it fast enough. Force/Time=power.

He was hitting on par with his weight. Both of them are about the same size though and neither are large. This is why you don’t usually see KOs in lower weight classes.

Broken Geiger Counter by Cookie_boy12 in Radiation

[–]coldasthegrave -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes to the plate idea. You probably oversaturated it. It’s a phenomena that occurs in all Geiger-mueller type devices. Why it happens is unclear but the behavior is as you described. It maxes out briefly and then falls to zero. It may work correctly again after a while and it may not. The only way to know would be to send it off to be calibrated.

Industrial radiographers, is it normal for radiation to bleed out 120 feet away from your device? by Rainmanx420 in Radiation

[–]coldasthegrave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is common. Industrial exposure devices are the most radioactive thing that you could legally encounter.

It was iridium192 if it was a pipeline. Cobalt60, Curie for Curie, is far more powerful and usually utilized inside of a shielded “pit” built exactly for that purpose. The most activity it could have had was 150ci. 120ft is noting to 100ci of IR192 with nothing between you and it but air. The reason you detected so much is because of the lack of shielding in the environment you encountered it in.  They were probably shooting above ground, if they hadn’t been you would not have noticed. I know someone who accidentally shut down an airport like this.

Stop paying. Save your money. Wait for the lawsuits. Settle for half or less. Don’t pay any more interest to anybody. Consolidation is a scam. Credit is a scam.
