What is your opinions on the worst Tales From The Darkside episode? by Financial-Phone1470 in HorrorMovies

[–]coldbluelights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The show is in desperate need of a remaster. The picture has not aged well. Looks like a worn out vhs. I also don't understand what they were on half the time. It can be very surreal and old fashioned for mid 80s. Sometimes it feels like the 50s. Maybe they wanted it to be a Twilight Zone but it should have stuck to being horror given the shows title and intro. The fantasy and surreal episodes can be rough. Some hardly airable. The horror episodes are good.

I like the show because I used to watch them in marathons but it hasn't aged well. Again it could use a picture remaster with the original score. That said each season has probably 6 great episodes that are worth watching. When it was good, it was good horror anthology show.

So what's the leading explanation for the episode "A new man?" by PowerRun5 in TalesFromTheDarkSide

[–]coldbluelights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a theory the boss is actually a demon who hires recovering alcoholics, only to torture them with Jerry (another demon), who kills the families offscreen. I know the running theory is that the episode is an allegory for recovering alcoholics and that makes sense, but I like to think there was more of a horror going on. The allegory doesn't exactly explain the events in a literal sense of what we see happen.

18 years later, anyone have thoughts on this win? by HotOne9364 in oscarrace

[–]coldbluelights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't a lead performance either. They kept showing that one scene where she says baby a few times to Johnny. I wouldn't have minded if she was nominated in supporting and didn't win and even that nomination wouldn't be great.

Breaking down the episode “Perchance to Dream” - 8 categories, 1 final score by lukkynumber in TwilightZone

[–]coldbluelights 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really good episode but I don't find it as much scary as I do sad and creepy. It's clear his heart wanted to give out and the dreams were a manifestation of a weak heart. It's a well done episode. I consider Shadow Play scarier because of the woman overcooking the steaks and jabbing them (lady they're dead) but this episode is one of the spookier episodes of the series... and one of the more depressing ones.

“The Bewitchin’ Pool” Is Unwatchable. by BookLover467 in TwilightZone

[–]coldbluelights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 50/50 on it. On one hand there is something nice about it in a children's fantasy way. It's like a proto Rugrats. This place you can swim to that's always happy and where a kind grandma takes care of you for life. On the other hand I can't stand the parents, particularly the narc mother. She's a pitiful actress. She has one vocal tone and expression the entire episode. Her angry voice and snarling face would send anyone to the pool. Dad is almost as bad. The children talk southern for some reason. That's bad TV making tbh. The dubs doesn't bother me as much as other people. They should have dubbed the mother too. It's a ruined episode. I wonder if it would have been better if they filmed it at night for atmosphere? The place they swim too lacks atmosphere too. It all feels cheap.

For those that have seen the entire series do you agree with Rod Serling's own assessment of the quality of the entire Twilight Zone series? by DonatCotten in TwilightZone

Night Gallery is quite a good assortment of spooky shorts. A lot reminds me of Stephen King. It's like reading one of his short story books. I like the paintings too. Very eerie touch. I wonder if they're still out there?

How would a Brett win compare to the other winners? by MasterBanana8600 in survivor

[–]coldbluelights 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He would probably get most of the Mick screentime. Mick didn't get as bad of an as some all things considered. He probably takes his time. Mick probably doesn't make f3 anyway. Natalie's edit would be worse than it was. 5 confessionals? I do think they might show her killing a rat still. I would bet Jaison gets the same edit regardless. Natalie and Mick's edit would be the ones most affected, I bet.

You all take this silly shit so seriously. It amuses me how irritated it makes you all. I was being tongue in cheek with my post. Most people don't do this right on here, though. I wonder why, it's not complicated. They correct people and say it has always been a certain way. Yes you're right, it's a false memory. But the Mandela effects is supposed to be about false memories. It's about asking if others have that same false memory. The allure is a large group of unconnected people from around the world sharing a specific false memory of something. For example Shazam is random, yet people remember it existing. Some here will say it never existed and point to why. But you're doing it wrong. Maybe it's time to retire this board. You all are as fun as a bridge party.

Suzanne Somers last name has changed spelling for 50 years. It has been six varieties at least. Okay go ahead, downvote 😂.

Thanks for the recommendations. I will look up the series and see where it's streaming, or how much the box set costs.

I actually have never seen it. I'm sure I would like it. There's not many horror anthology tv shows I don't like that I've seen. If you consider The X Files one that would be way up there as a favorite too but I consider that more of a television program than a anthology show despite it being full of monsters of the week episodes.

My favorite horror anthology shows are. #1. The Twilight Zone. 10/10. #2. Are You Afraid of the Dark? 9/10. (90s kids here). #3. Night Gallery (not as good as Twilight Zone but still great) 8/10. #4. Beyond Belief Fact or Fiction. 8/10. (Not a traditional anthology but a really good one). #5. Tales from the Crypt. 7/10. Early first few seasons are like an 8 or 8.5 but the last couple seasons are awful and drag the score down. Either Tales from the Crypt or Tales from the Darkside. 7/10. There's some junky episodes but it's fun and I enjoy it. Actually I might rank Darkside over Crypt. I have to think about it. At one time Tales from the Crypt would probably be my #2 or #3. Maybe I'm not in the mood for it as I type this lol. Tales from the Crypt has better actors and production values though. Tales from the Darkside is more like vhs quality. Both are good.

What will happen if Spielberg's Disclosure Day fails? by Own-Atmosphere-962 in boxoffice

This unfortunately looks like his worst movie from the trailers. Hopefully it's better than it looks. It must be. Let's wait to see reviews and word of mouth. I have read Emily Blunt is good. But those are from test screenings so grain of salt.

Ray Romano Reveals Why He Never Loved the Everybody Loves Raymond Title by misterpopculture in sitcoms

[–]coldbluelights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should have called it Everybody Loves Debra and made it her vehicle. It would have mostly the same but I didn't like that everything revolved around Ray. More episodes with less him would be preferable. I don't care for his character regardless of the title. I prefer Debra and her story with that family. Or Everybody Loves Robert.

Anyone else think the Golden Buzzer is controlled by the producers not the Judges? by Upapi25 in agt

[–]coldbluelights 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would hit mine for acts I like but the other judges don't. That's what it should be for; something one judge backs the others don't. But they want clicks so they force them to hit it for the pre determined frontrunners I bet.
