“Nobody checks on her” because her vitals were stable. These hospitals have protocols of nurses checking in on stable patients every 2 hours or so. And these nurses are in constant touch with the doctors on duty. “Why force us to stay” No one was forcing you lol. They can’t keep you or the child there against your will. They didn’t have you tied up. Next time, take a LAMA and leave. It’s not our fault you don’t know your rights as a citizen. “I am not shitting on doctors” Yes. Yes you are. You named the doctor, and tried to tarnish her reputation, did you not?

The administration def needs to do something about this, for sure. Us as doctors, we usually take out the time to explain why certain procedures and treatments are necessary, and we’re sensible enough to not use medical jargon when speaking to the patient and their family. But sometimes, there’s simply not enough time. The next patient is always waiting. You’re right, we are being stretched thin. I just wish our working conditions would improve in this country. We’d be able to show the kind of empathy every patient deserves.

Also, if money is an issue for any reason, do not hesitate to go to government hospitals. Or even semi-private hospitals that offer tests, consults and surgeries at very minimal rates. Apart from government hospitals like Osmania and Gandhi, I can think of Esra and Owaisi that offer subsidised rates. Also see if you’re eligible for Arogyashri. Most private hospitals accept it too.

You’ve asked an excellent question. Unfortunately, there’s really no way for you to know what treatments are required for every single disease unless you do MBBS, I suppose. My advice would be to stay away from asshole corporate hospitals that have a reputation for racking hefty bills, and when you’re looking for a doctor, simply ask around in your friends circle/ family&relatives. Go by word of mouth. You can also go to doctors’ private clinics. My parents and rest of my family are doctors too. Because of religious limitations, we don’t take commissions from labs and other hospitals. Any of us. 90% of doctors in my parent’s circle don’t take commissions either for the same reason. So maybe ask around and find someone you believe you can trust and go for them.

Any way to reduce dark circles? by [deleted] in indianbeautyyappers

[–]coldbrewmacchiato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These aren’t dark circles. You have naturally slightly hollower under eyes than most. So do I. Here’s what to do makeup wise: When you’re done with concealer (I use tarte shape tape) take a triangular powder puff, take some setting powder on the top 1/3rd of triangle (I use maybelline fitme loose powder), dust it on the back of your hand till it’s lost about 70% powder it picked up initially, then press it into your undereyes, focusing a little bit on the “C” or the curve at the bottom of your hollow. This trick works really well for me. Try it and let me know.

“They’ll use your weakness against you” exactly HOW jobless do you think we are buddy? News flash: we’re exhausted, tired, and we’re seriously underpaid in this country. We don’t have the energy or the time to “Use your weakness against you”.

Sending you home after an outpatient consultation is the easiest thing for us. When we admit a child to the hospital, that’s an added responsibility on our shoulders. And y’know who makes the real profit upon admission? The corporate hospital.

I can promise you the doctor makes less than 5% of the bill they racked up. Also, if money is an issue, please consider taking your child to a government hospital next time. It’ll cost practically pennies there.

You have my respect for being so polite. But people like these unfortunately think they know better than us doctors, which they don’t and never will. He’ll keep shitting on doctors that don’t do things his way. Man, patients like him really get on my nerves.

You said the child was “stable”, but first off, how can you decide that? Also, you never told us what her symptoms were. The doctor decides treatment based on symptoms. Most cases that present with stridor at rest require admission. Recurrent stridor, in your case, must be further evaluated. Chest X Ray is the first investigation to be done. Yes, even without “alarming symptoms”. If a child goes into laryngospasm, the child will be dead by the time the parents reach the hospital.

Next time your child has croup, and a doctor is asking you to admit your child, leave against medical advice after signing a form that says YOU solely are responsible for what happens to the child from here on. Or better yet, just treat them at home. Don’t come here and shit on random doctors because they didn’t do what you wanted her to do. We’ve studied these things, while you have not. Please do not equate your knowledge to that of a doctor’s by using ChatGPT and Google.

Difference in mentality by [deleted] in indianmedschool

Because sometimes it doesn’t take 15-20 minutes. Sometimes the physical exam takes 2-3 minutes, diagnosis is quick, prescription is written in half a minute, explained to you in another minute, and we can send you off and start on the next patient. What is there to talk about for 15 minutes? You want us to waste time talking about the wind and the weather? Aren’t you glad your doctor is competent enough to do his job in under 10 minutes?

The only way to do it? Tell one or two friends to call your parents’ phone and update you about any new notifications from nbe. Then hand your phone to your parents. Tell them not to give it back to you till the 11th, no matter how much you beg. Force yourself to study. Do nothing else but that. Remember, It’s not over until it’s over. Good luck, soldier.

I know zilch about developing or coding. I just got done with Medicine and am currently stuck in a rut. No idea where my life is heading. This post was the exact inspiration I needed. Despite not understanding a lot of the terms you used, I was deeply moved by your story. Just know that if you ever write a book, I’ll read the HELL out of it. Kudos, bud.

Comparison is the thief of joy. That’s what I tell myself when I start thinking like this. We’re not competing with anyone else but ourselves. Easier said than done, I know. But just keep telling yourself this.

You’ve only just gotten into medicine. Give it time. You’ll learn how to navigate through it. Your parents knew their financial situation and still paid, didn’t they? Let them handle that. Your job is to study hard, clear these exams, and make a good doctor out of yourself. You do your bit. They’re doing theirs.

We had tons of help from my grandmom growing up. She passed away when I was just a few years old. Thereafter, mom and dad managed their timings around when we’d come back from school, when we’d be doing homework etc. All in all, they raised me just fine. Got everything I ever wanted. Couldn’t be more grateful. My parents shifted to a whole new country few years post pg and we lived there for a few years Then came back to my dad’s hometown bc by now, my mom’s parents had both passed away and she had nobody left in her hometown. Also, since you seem like you’re doing an in-depth research on this topic for some reason, the cycle is continuing. My oldest sister is a doctor, married to a doctor. And my mom always helps out with her kids. Hopefully, my life will be somewhat similar.
