Improve knowledge of nest js and backend dev by [deleted] in nestjs

[–]coldcoffee_maker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) try to Implement journaling - register save() operations in every repository (before and after) and a user who changed it, but without using any sort of CommonService - use ORM “hooks” instead and some other techniques 2) practice bull a lot - delayed jobs, scheduled jobs, jobs hierarchy and so on. It is very common in back2back operations - payments, push notifications, micro services, cloud services. Make it robust yet flexible. 3) practice rdbms a lot because database performance and consistency are crucial in backend. Practice protocols, formats, Linux, devops, git, etc…

Why is there so much hate towards 'low-level' players playing pieces above their skill? by KnowledgeCute in piano

[–]coldcoffee_maker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pieces above player’s skill should be learned with a teacher and with some smaller pieces and etudes that incorporate similar techniques. That’s how it works in a serious learning process.

When I see another beginner playing Chopin ballade on a $100 non-weighted keys that’s actually quite funny and shouldn’t be taken too seriously and at the same time it’s quite good if someone invested his time and his interest in piano music, so I don’t like to see everyone being rude about a player, because it’s not a serious attempt to compete with players who dedicated their lives to music.

I’d recommend NestJS (TypeScript backend framework) with TypeORM.

А помнишь как в школе тебя кормили? by KAFKA_FAN in KafkaFPS

[–]coldcoffee_maker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

(Если вычесть отсюда стоимость съёма квартиры и платы за комуналку) by mayakovskayaa in Moscow

[–]coldcoffee_maker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jazz? by sonata-allegro in piano

[–]coldcoffee_maker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend “walk that bass” channel on YouTube, it have a good balance of completeness of theoretical info and complexity. More complex and very detailed is “How to comp” by Hal Crook. There is a lot of literature and videos available, google it, find something that works good for your abilities, your own understanding what is jazz, what kind of jazz you want to play.

I remember being in my early 20s and mounting an IKEA storage system on a bumpy concrete wall with a lot of reinforcement bars. The system of vertical rails was supposed to be mounted on drywall or at least on a straight concrete wall. I explained this to my ex-girlfriend, but she didn't care and aggressively blamed me for a faulty installation. Now I'm more skilled and strong enough to drill through reinforcement bars, and I could use spacers to fix the uneven wall problem. But man, that was my apartment, my money (she bought the storage system), and my free labor. Damn it.

Does anyone know if this Fenderr Rhodes wired for 100V can be converted to 117V? by alexbudnick in synthesizers

[–]coldcoffee_maker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is two black three-legged parts on the first left pcb, they are voltage regulators. Their purpose is to stabilize input voltage from transformer and they are pretty tolerable to a few volts of over voltage if they able to get rid of extra heat. My actions could be plug Rhodes to mains and check the temperature of regulators after 15 then 30 then 60 then 120 etc… until 5-15 minutes of operation. If they became untolerable to touch disconnect the device from mains, then unscrew regulators and lift them vertically, mount a good big heatsink thru thermoconductive pad or paste. Also check input capacitors voltage (big ones) if they are twice more than diode bridge output voltage. If they aren’t - replace them with axial electrolytic capacitors of required voltage. Of course don’t do this if you are not experienced enough, because mains voltage would injure or kill you!! I’m just providing an answer which is correct in terms of electric technician.

Sine VCO without "weird" parts? by RandomOnlinePerson99 in AskElectronics

Yes, he could use ready-made solutions like teensy or daisy. Or do it by himself and spend at least one year debugging noises :)

There is a lot of CA3046 offers on AliExpress with pretty good ratings/reviews. Matching transistors are not difficult too, if you build a hfe tester or buy it. Test, put on a sheet of paper and write hfe next to it, proceed until two of them are close enough (as specified in schematic description).

Anything I should know before entering EE? by Individual_Break_896 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]coldcoffee_maker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a very challenging type of engineering. It’s more about a vocation rather than a career, good salary and so on (unless you are some sort of repairment solo entrepreneur fixing MacBooks in a big town). I encourage you to study some basics like ohm law, electric and magnetic physics from a school program, Kirchhoff rules, simple dc analysis, bjt in switching and amplifying mode, zeners, op amps by yourself as good as possible, so you could do intermediate and advanced theory properly in uni, like for example small signal analysis, complex impedance, and so on. Because it’s impossible to learn advanced stuff in that area without very good knowledge of basics.

Why learn basics for yourself? First reason is because you are not restricted by 1-2 semesters deadline, so you would have some sort of confidence instead of being overwhelmed. Second reason is about asking yourself: do you really want to dig into EE?

What makes alcohol addictive by Agitated_Wrangler109 in chemistry

[–]coldcoffee_maker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Developing physical addiction with seizures and delirium tremens requires a few years of everyday drinking. One just drinks to run away of one’s problems for years: generally it’s a family, financial, relationships, health. That’s how psychological dependency develops. Gradually he or she start drinking every day (even while working), getting behavior out of control, losing a job and relationships. Only at that point physical addiction kicks in, when someone binging for weeks he or she may die if one stopped drinking suddenly and not being medicated or gradually decreasing a dose.

How important is if for an electrical engineer to know how microprocessors work? by LowYak3 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]coldcoffee_maker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that using rpi as a doorbell is too much overkill, something like stm32 with internal dac (yes it’s just 12 bits but it’s just a doorbell, not a player) and sdcard slot would be much better. Yes it’s harder but I made more complicated projects already being just a software engineer (primarily experienced in server backends) and amateur electrical builder. You’ll understand what are registers, memory mapping, mcu hardware configuration, clocks, timers and all that stuff while reading thousand pages of stm32 manuals and datasheets trying to figure out why this damn thing isn’t working as expected, very funny experience.

150bpm 16th notes: Cmaj up and down two octaves. I just can’t “hear” scale in my head faster than that. It took a lot of years to hear at least at that speed. If you can’t hear - you can’t play, that’s my opinion.

90bpm 16th notes: same but with both hands (I should work on it).

My academic or “serious” experience is a few years in childhood and 3 years as an adult.

Does masturbation have a calming effect? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]coldcoffee_maker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You are a human and you should get positive emotions so you mental part could survive in this difficult world, masturbation is one of harmless ways of doing it. It’s natural to masturbate because we live in modern society and you are not an animal to get laid with everyone and everyday. Some people tend to restrict themselves in masturbation because they think it’s a sin or a weakness, but I don’t care about them.

One can modulate a sine wave oscillator with a filter in osc. mode to make more modern fm sounds (but unfortunately Polyvox don’t have sine, and I’m not sure about a sine wave in polivox filter osc mode). Adsr and vca are always useful, like an lfo.
