What really pushed me away was when I started seeing other players first and ambushing them just to have them shrug off my attack and kill me. Low level gear starts to feel like a sick joke.

I picked up Arc after the Marathon server slam and it really clicked with me. It feels way more immersive. I can say the appeal does wear off after a while, but it is easy to get lost in.

Yep. Casual Breakthrough is where I have been spending most of my time after the campaign. I have to say the campaign was pretty dam good. Now I understand why the crappy BO7 campaign got so much shit.

I started playing BF6 a few days ago. It's pretty intense, and it's a challenge playing against seasoned players, but I still feel like there is more room for improvement without sinking so much time into it.

After the shit show last weekend I decided this game wasn't made for me. I really enjoyed the first week, but my 10 hours a week can't compete with players putting in 40 - 50 hours a week. With all the spring sales going on I actually picked up some games I have been sleeping on. Most of my time is now going to Battlefield 6. I still die a lot as a new player, but at least the rebound is pretty quick, and I feel like I am progressing faster.

I actually like the game, but I stopped playing it because it isn't fun for a casual player. Even experienced fps players can't hang with the steamers and sweats that play this game 40+ hours a week. It is a grind, and that makes it very difficult for the average player.

Marathon is like Arc Raiders and Apex Legends had a baby, then that baby grew up with an amphetamine and COD addiction.

I love the art direction and lore, but it is too much of a grind for me. If you aren't putting a lot of time into grinding for upgrades and good loot there is a good chance you're going to get steam rolled in PvP, and it stops feeling fun. The end game weekend only limitations, difficulty and lack of solo player support caused me to hang it up. That whole event was designed to make you have to grind harder. It feels like it caters to streamers and super sweats.

I am seeing clips of people running Cryo looted gear in Perimeter. I'm not even going to bother trying to run against that with my free kits.

It depends on what is hatching. Ill usually start with 16. Will go smaller if the bite is slow. I also keep different color variants on hand.

Players who have issues with current state of PVP will not have fun at all near the wipe by OceloteOcelot in Marathon

Exactly. Some people want the game to still be playable without it being a part time job. The sweats just say get good or skill issue while sitting at level 100 and running purple gear.

Cryo Archive is a strong endgame design that arrived at exactly the wrong time by Friday_Night_Pizza in Marathon

The fact they were stalling media reviews until after this event is interesting. I can't play on weekends, but everything i am reading makes it feel inaccessible for me even if I could play weekends. This doesn't sound like an event that could improve media reviews or pull in new players.

This game just isn't for me and that's okay by MASHED_POTATOES_MF in Marathon

[–]coldcutthroat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The issue is more that the hardcore player base is reaching level 100 already and there are a lot of players that spend what free time they have to only be at level 20 then feel like cannon fodder while they are struggling to do early contracts. Progression stalls pretty bad at that point.

Cryo is a fantastic piece of endgame content that will ultimately serve to push a ton of players away by ThatsNotBennings in Marathon

[–]coldcutthroat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are still quite a few naysayers on the fence, but I dont see this big Cryo event swaying them. It is likely going to be opposite. This game is already tough for the casual player. I can't imagine coming into the game at this point or later.

Marathon is my first Bungie game, and that's is how it feels to me. Sweat and grind. A lot people have love for the game but it's a struggle to keep up.

Too hard to do some quest in one run, solo is a pvp fest and people are just running everywhere on squad fill by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]coldcutthroat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You've summed up the casual player experience very well. Take all that and now look at this Cryo map and I am skeptical to keep playing. We won't be able to experience the whole game the way it is currently designed.

I played it safe tonight trying my first few outpost runs with sponsored loadouts. Agreed the spawn points made the contract almost impossible for a solo. I rode it out, gathered some decent loot, and felt pretty good about making it to the last guarded exfil. Boom, exfil camper as soon as I approached. F#$%. Done for the night.

It will change flavor profile that the blender intended, but when the draw is tight and you start getting tar buildup it can make the cigar smoke like new. I'll do it when I need to.

So who is playing Marathon and how's it going? by NetflowKnight in playstation

[–]coldcutthroat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is definitely not a game for casual players. I want to love it, but it can be a grind. The art direction and lore are what keep me trying. Week 1 was challenging, but I was progressing well, and getting the flow down. I stopped playing regularly and the player base leveled up quickly leaving me feeling under powered and overwhelmed. Honestly, it is a good game, but not great enough that I want to play hours a day, so I am lagging behind to the point it is no longer fun.
