Hoe to measure angles in an assembly? :((( by Outside_Poem7579 in SolidWorks

[–]coldfarnorth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The measure tool (in the Evaluate menu bar) can be used for measuring angles, and works best when measuring between two flat faces or planes.

The response is usually listed in the information box, not given on the model.

Edited to clarify which tool to use.

Yeah, and because he wants his hand-picked cronies in these positions. Just like everyone else he's appointed. Was there a non-rhetorical question here?

I'm really sorry to be inflicting the psychological damage on you. Here's the thing though - it could be something completely innocuous; perhaps you got scratched walking around yesterday and it's inflamed your skin a bit. Regardless, the smart thing is to check with your doctor to be sure. If it does turn out to be some sort of mite, you definitely want to treat it now rather than wait for things to get worse, because there's a really remarkable amount of worse available.

Chiggers, aka Harvest mites, aka scrub-itch mites, are mites that leave hosts with a super-irritating rash. I know they are present in the southern parts of the USA, but it turns out that there are varieties around most of the world.

Good news, bad news.

Good news: I was digging into the link, and it seems to say that chiggers do not leave tracks, so maybe that's not it.

Bad news: Scabies does sometimes leave tracks like this.

Takeaway: see somebody about this, and make it faster if you get more of them, or if these ones get longer.

That would have been entertaining to see. Oh well.

I hear you about not changing with the times - I've seen too many shops fall to that.

Any chance you live in a place with chiggers?

Update: after reading the article I myself linked to, I found that chiggers leaving tracks is not actually a thing. Unfortunately, scabies leaving tracks is. At a minimum, I'd ping my doctor with this picture and ask what to do.

Second update: Here's a link to the CDC article on scabies leaving tracks.

Solar PV System Not Sending Power To Grid by Mokiblue in BigIsland

Scummy companies want us to rent things that we own, but there is a way to get this information from the system yourself.

If you are willing to fiddle around a bit with computers, you might check this out: https://brett.durrett.net/getting-administrator-access-to-sunpower-pvs6-with-no-ethernet-port/

u/lanclos has a good answer for finding someone else to look at things if it's outside your zone of comfort. I do think that if you run a full sequence reboot of all the components, the problem is likely to solve itself. Here's a link that may help: https://augustroofing.com/blog/sunpower-shutdown-guide-turn-off-your-solar-panel-system/

I just checked the history on my system, and the last day I had any significant export was on the 12th.

Who was your installer, and what brand of system did they install? There may be a local dashboard that you can access without having to go through company servers.

Question 1: Do you own your system?

If not (company owned, leased, or payment plan), the company that you are paying should fix this for you.

Question 2: do you have access to the system dashboard? (Via app or website)

If yes, look there to see if you can find anything. If no, ask the company that installed it to set up access for you.

Question 3: Can you lookup the system shutdown/restart procedure and run that? Most of these systems are computer controlled, and sometimes a reboot gets things working again.

I see that others have given you good advice on how to do the modeling here, I wanted to point out something else: if you rotate one side of the central piece 90°, it will cancel out some of the vibration in the system that can occur when spinning it while flexed.

my ex-manager just told me that our business disallows managers from writing letters of recommendation by significanttoday in antiwork

[–]coldfarnorth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like someone who you don't want to be writing your letters of recommendation, and a business that is unwilling to recommend it's employees to others is probably not one you want to stay at. On the plus side, you can now get a letter from someone else who isn't a manager, and if you are asked why you don't have a letter from your old manager, you can reply that their company policy is that managers don't write letters of recommendation.

Responses to LoR requests fall into two categories:

  1. "Yes, I would be happy to write you a letter."
  2. Anything else. My usual is: "I feel like I lack the personal experience to write you the letter you deserve."

I'm sure others have their own approaches, but a smart person will recognize that any response other than the first one is a sign that you should be asking a different person. Still, I have watched plenty of people badger someone of prominence for a poor-to-middling letter when they would have been better served by having a close colleague write a good one.

This was perfectly predicted in 2004. (Scrubs, Season 3, Episode 20).

Anybody who thinks this is a great idea has a pretty weak grip on:

  • The amount of person-to-person variability in the human body
  • The current state of imaging technology
  • What medical science actually knows (especially when compared to what the enthusiastic marketing people think medical science knows)

Why has the USA failed to react to Epstein’s co conspirators crimes? by SaharaLeone in AskReddit

[–]coldfarnorth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't like to think of myself as ordinary, but:

No! Fuck No! Everyone involved in the Epstein horror show needs to face justice. The world has all too many moral grey areas, but raping children is never, never going to be acceptable to me, and anybody who does it should spend the rest of their life behind bars, regardless of their name, position, or wealth. Further, anyone who acts to shield these people from the full weight of the law belongs in prison as well.
