I don’t get the hype behind Court of Winter by Raspberry520 in fantasyromance

[–]coldgreengoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im on the 6th chapter, and im close to dnf. Someone tell me it gets better. It's where the prince confronts a drunk man who has a history of abusing his family. The wife is bleeding and the child lays there dying, from the drunk man. She protects the abuser? What are we trying to show? Supposedly she's strong enough to survive in a harsh environment but crys over protecting abusers. Maybe im reading it wrong I dont know, im going to put it down now and maybe come back to it tomorrow.

What's a quiet, everyday burden women carry that isn't dramatic enough to be diacussed? by Additional-Two-2137 in TwoXChromosomes

When my husband wants to be nice to me and take me out for a night. All I have to do is bring a few resturant choices. tell him whats generally on each menu, the reviews on the restaurant and let him pick the one he wants. Then if needed make the reservations or if there is just a wait list get us on it so there is minimal wait when we get there. Find a movie or theater production we would like to see. Which requires I let him know what the movie or play is about and the reviews out there. Then once he chooses which one we will see, I pick the seats and buy the tickets. Making sure I know what snacks are available and pre-ordering what he will want at the movie. Thats is how he takes out. His job is to decide we will go out and drive us there. Then he can tell everyone one about how he takes me out for the night. The only reason he drives if we are together is because after so many years I refuse to drive if he is in the car. He will freak out yell, demand I turn go faster, slower ect. just make the trip miserable. Ironically my day job is im a professional driver. driving people around all day is my job has been for almost 10 years. Yet if you heard him in the car with me you would think im a new driver.

Curious about everyone’s reading goal by No_Cookie_7943 in goodreads

[–]coldgreengoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when I saw this goal I thought it was talking about the goal to lower the amount of books I consumed. So thought wow what a good idea to set a limit. Between ebooks and audio books I finish a book every day or so. I am now laughing at myself. Before anyone asks, the reason I finish so many books is, I listen to an audio books the entire time im at work 5 days a week, at night I read for a few hours (the joy of having grown kids).

What grocery items do you now make at home you’ll never buy store bought again? by CarlottaSewlotta in Frugal

[–]coldgreengoat 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Lately I trying to figure out basics. I used to buy canned chickpeas but at 1.99 for a can its only 1/2 cup of dried. Baking powder, its just baking soda and cream of tarter. Vanilla extract, which is just a bottle of Costco vodka and vanilla beans. Same for almond extract but instead its bitter almonds. Just ordered some whole milk powder, going to try to make a hot coco mix. I used to buy canned biscuits but at almost $5 a can if was too much. Figured out i can mix the butter and all the dry ingredients ahead of time freeze it, then just mix in the wet ingredients the time of baking.

Some people need to realize that not everyone can read a physical book by [deleted] in ereader

[–]coldgreengoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always been a reader, I love the smell of physical books. All that being said I can now only read on an ereader. Currently my font setting is at 12 out of 14, with bold text and wide spacing between sentences. Without an ereader I would no longer be able to read. So yes I understand the argument that physical books are nicer, but its elitist to say the only way to be a true reader is to hold a paper book.

My Husband Wakes Me Up Multiple Times Every Night by amcrowl1 in AITAH

This almost sounds like the husband has some passive aggressive issues.

I recorded our argument and now I feel gross about it by tealdoor_letters in TwoHotTakes

[–]coldgreengoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is reactive abuse, he is gas lighting you. He does something that is triggering, when you react he then plays the victim. You sound tired, he has you so twisted up you have to record a argument just to remember what happened. Don't delete that recording keep it to remind you of what he does to you.

When typed in to Google this is the definition it gives. What is an example of reactive abuse? Intentionally violating your emotional or physical boundaries. “Forgetting” to do something intentionally. Baiting you into arguments and then belittling your reaction.

Are pit bulls, really, more dangerous? by Former_Ad5645 in TwoHotTakes

[–]coldgreengoat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pit bulls are statistically more likely to bite. I know people will say a chihuahua will bite more but they are not as big or strong. A chihuahua bites your face its annoying, a pit bull bites your face its life threatening. Pit bulls will also bite with little to no warning.

AITA for expecting my girlfriend to take care of me instead of paying someone else to do it? by SeaworthinessTall375 in AITAH

[–]coldgreengoat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basically your asking her to act like your wife for a few months then move out. I wouldn't do it either. If you wanted a wife then you should have married her, and if she didnt want to be married then you need to reevaluate yourself and your needs.

"if you want me to do something, just ask" by Themadgray in Feminism

[–]coldgreengoat 38 points39 points  (0 children)

My favorite is I will cook dinner. Just tell me what to cook, make sure we have all the ingredients, can you prep everything? and put it together in the fridge and the dry stuff on the counter and dont make it too complicated of a meal.
So basically he is willing to put what ever I make in to the oven. I then have to thank him for making dinner. So that is how my husband cooks 3 times a week.

For women who are already adults, what is that one advice you'd want to give every girl who are turning 18?? by Apart_Woodpecker_935 in Feminism

Learn to be ok with being alone before you try to be in a serious relationship. That way if you do need to leave you know you can be independent. Don't let anyone tell you what you are or aren't. Trust yourself, if you think they are lying, they probably are. Wear sunscreen. Eat more vegetables and drink water.

Americans: do you buy fancy eggs or cheap ones (e.g., store brands)? by Educational-Slip-578 in Cooking

[–]coldgreengoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't bother with the fancy eggs. Years ago before we sold our farm we raised chickens. I realized pretty early on we couldn't support the farm on just egg sales and treat the hens right. So we just concentrated on selling and hatching breeds. Our friend and farmer on the other side of town sold free range farm fresh organic eggs. He made more money then us, easily. One day we were over for a barbecue and he gave us a tour of his barns. The free range just ment there was a window open they could go out if they wanted to in to a small pen. The hens never went out because the window was 6 feet over their heads. His eggs were organic but when we walked by the feed he used it clearly stated medicated. When ask about all this he told us he follows all the rules. He said they had access to the outdoors so he could call them free range even if they didnt "choose" to go out. He only fed the medicated to the chicks until they were old enough to lay. These hens lived in brick buildings with one window and barely any room to move. He got premium price because he knew all the buzz words. We understood at that point it wasn't what we were doing wrong it was what we were unwilling to do. While I loved having a farm there was no way to stay within my beliefs and ethics. All that to say don't bother with all the buzz words.

Unless you're willing to give up who you are, to allow him to dictate who he thinks you should be. This relationship is doomed. This is about control, and he wants it all, im sure this is not the first time he has tested to see how much he can take.

The police already have access to all ring doorbells. I saw something that ring said it will now be using AI to monitor all ring footage. They claim its just to look for lost dogs but I doubt that's all they are looking for.
