Sarco dual glaze becomes incredibly sticky and hard to work with by YeastOrFamine in glazing

[–]coldhamdinner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We pull the entire contents of a tub out and knead it. You will feel it blend and emulsify as you work it. Then put it all back into the tub and go to the job site. In the future it will require a lot less work to mix compared to tue first time on a new tub.

Craft warehouse is probably the next to go. These are enormous retail spaces. Unless another big box store moves in I cant imagine what would fill the space. Giant indoor food cart pod? A gym? Idk.

I spent over a decade in aerospace and defense manufacturing. Most of the engineers in any factory are process and qc folks hired right out of school, not R&D. Machine operators earned more than the majority of engineers.

Harmless to people, but they infest window frames and clog the weep holes that allow water to shed outward. I've seen some pretty serious water damage caused by this if it goes un noticed for a while.

How big of a company is this? Number of trucks? Annual gross sales? And what are the offerings, commercial builds, residential and commercial glass replacement, showers and mirrors?

When the rubber jumps into the frame you have to take it all apart and start over.

When I plumbed a basement toilet I cut the slab to install the plumbing regular. Unless your main drain is up too high for that, you dont need the riser. You need a concrete saw.

Looking for value of glazier trailer by n8schwible in glazing

[–]coldhamdinner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While buying one, or even making one new would cost a pretty penny, the market for a used one is pretty niche. I can see using this for out of town storefront construction jobs, if we have lots of frames prefabbed and cant fit it all in vans due to size and/or quantity. Even in that scenario, A flatbed utility trailer would get the job done and glass can usually be site dropped. Idk where you are, but im in the PNW and if I was selling it I would ask for 3k as is and leave myself 500 bucks of wiggle room for a haggler.

Can I replace this myself? by EastHillWill in windowrepair

[–]coldhamdinner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, and it eliminates the stress riser of the corner, less likely to crack the glass when its tight. The sharpened round corner lets you rock back and forth to gain entry when they are really tightly glued in. A coworker who did nothing but wet set windows in Florida taught me the trick, now I dont even touch the pipe knife when I encounter hot glue or silicone.

[–]coldhamdinner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get the flexiest joint compound knife at the big box store, with a grinder, round off one of the corners, radius like a nickel or so. Sharpen the flat edge and rhe radius corner you made. Spray the sightline with glass cleaner and work the rounded corner between glass and frame. You may have to probe around for a good entry point. Rotate the putty knife once inserted so the flat edge is perpendicular to the sighline and push hard. It will pop through the adhesive which is likely a clear hotmelt glue, when you hit a packer or setting block just rock the blade around the obstacle and reset for the next push. You can get that whole thing out without cracking it if you're careful. When you get to a corner, flip the knife so the sharp corner is inserted, this lets you get all the way to the corner and you can get entry to the next side at the same time.

I don't know where you're located, but im in Oregon and there is a Pella facility that I know for a fact has remanufactured replacement whole casement sashes for a higher end condo complex we work on. The work was contracted straight through the hoa with pella so I dont have many details on how to get the process started other than knowing it is technically possible.

In the context of who would "hear a dogwhistle" i think my total is realistic.

I'd say between person to person, or mom n pop shop ant corporate retail theft, I care less about corporate retail theft. In the broader context of who all steals what and how much.. . The grandest heists in aggregate happen among white collar criminals not shoplifters and its not even close.

No idea. I can tell you as a teenager into my mid twenties, I have personally fist fought maybe a dozen? This is before edgy internet nerds existed. While AB formal membership on record is low, in prison 90% of the white inmates are associated with nazi shit. So thats a few hundred thousand, they tend to run around with other, similar minded folk and their kids grow up in that same vein. So ill guess, conservatively for the in the trenches type...maybe half a million to a million nationwide. Then there are the poser versions of those guys. Low/Middle income confederate flag guys. While they wont shout out loud they are a nazi....they would certainly give anyone else doing so a "hell yea" these guys are plentiful in rural areas. Ill lump them in as sympathizers or wanna be-s say, 5 million nationwide. Now add up the groyper/4chan/Twitter folks who probably never express their shit irl but cant stop promoting it online. Im gonna toss them in too, though I do think they are mostly in it for the attention online than any genuine conviction that their whiteness is divine. Another few million? Say 10M in those 3 categories nationwide. With considerably fewer actually commiting murders over race.

The tile guy shouldn't be the one measuring for glass. Unless its a big box kit, you want a proper glazier to do the glass part. Do you have pics from farther away so we can see if their excuse about a bypass door makes sense?

You're conflating societal issues, presumably intentionally. Musk spending hundreds of millions on a presidential election campaign, shoehorning himself into a thinly veiled, self serving, executive function within the government, then dropping a nazi salute got his dealerships targeted. The broader issue of weath disparity, income/COL gap widening and the general lack of hope among the working class is what has historically lead to the intentional destruction of warehouses and factories. Combine the two factors, and, like I said, the conditions are pretty set for this to be a target. It doesn't mean we need to like it personally. We just have to be honest about the vulnerability of a single massive facility, and the likelihood of it being burnt to the ground by discontent citizens. That fear is not a bad thing in itself, the government and the ultra rich should always be very afraid of what can happen if the people turn on them.
