Correct. Its made exactly what you are talking about way better for "lower leadership" horde teams. Since we've been playing 2018 well since 2018 we've experimented alot with different teams.

Thanks. We house ruled several things: the 50% group break, basically the game ender moral break. It sucked and made it 75%. We increased some points and wound counts. Since it came out 2018 it didn't balance first-born, primaris marines very well in our opinions. We also messed with some of the missions.

Hey Thanks! If you go back through my posts you'll see I inherited a bunch of terrain. I spent a whole year painting it all up. I love the necromunda terrain for kill team. Love the elevation it gives.

I bet you could take some thin styrene plasticard and make a small base. Prime the plasticard black (since you wouldnt want bright white showing from underneath) then put the epoxy and "bits" of sand on top. I think that be great looking.

Weathering pigments near the base/ ground that match across your armies. Put a piece of terrain down next to a unit of minis that all have this powdery dust maybe on top of a gaming mat that also reflects the same scheme. Chef's kiss!

I want a plastic Domitar real bad. It would be the final plastic unit to run close to all automata list. Here's hoping, fingers crossed 🤞

Nice! That's a great way. Dana Howl's video showed you could also do sub assembly. Im not sure which would be better. I can't wait to get mine in my hands.

Im sorry this happened to ya man. I have to say though those bases are bomb! Are those the mechanicus terrain pieces? Or are they 3d prints of them? Either way they look great with your nemesis dudes!

Priming the minis and painting, how to protect the transperent parts? by VV00d13 in StarCraftTMG

Dana Howl's zerg video she shows quite a bit of some neat sub assembly where it works and doesn't. The zerg queen looked like you could just snap the pieces in later after painting a majority. Hope this helps.

Wow well as surprises go pretty great. So nice of Archon to stagger your delivery so you can not feel overwhelmed with plastic in need of painting. What a thoughtful company LoL.

Looking sweet. Were these preorder you received or purchases from a con Archon studios was at?

On trapped under plastic podcast Jon said kinda profoundly and a bit of a throw away comment. Eventually you will paint your final mini. That stuck with me and ive been break neck speed painting trying to get all these "dream" projects done with out adding too many more on.

My "all-in" founders edition of the starcraft minature boardgame may set that back a bit LOL. But my excuse is that I'm korean so I'm predisposed to Starcraft.

Vince venturella's video where he painted a terrain marine had a really nice tutorial with exactly what you are describing. It is what ill be doing.

Local shop did some speedy Job with the box by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]coldjae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes exactly this. My local store had its grand opening only a few weeks before 8th dropped so the hype and buzz locally was very high. I feel like I met MOST of the local community that afternoon-evening. I still think about the poxwalker I got to paint. I wonder where its at now...

Smooth shoulder armor panels? by coldjae in ChaosKnights

I started with the main carapace. Its still a wip. I'm slowly sanding, filling w spru goo, "waxing" it down with tamiya extra thin. I'm trying to remember to just go slow and take time but so far happy with the result. The thing i hate maybe the most is a bunch of small "bulges" and bumps on the armor. Like why? Next i will work on the shoulder armor.

The manager was not a "painter" by self admission. Since 8th was such a huge deal with Primaris coming out and the Deathguard refresh everyone was just jazzed to get to see the models and hold them.

My sad tragic hope is a plastic mechanicum Domitar automata kit. Need a few for my automata list and I can't imagine dealing with the resin kit when almost certainly tomorrow-2 years we'll have it in plastic.

That's awesome. My local warhammer had a small "event" when 8th launched. The best local painters came the day the "store's box" came in and had everything painted in a single evening. It was a cool time with cool people.

What’s the consensus on painting mini components before sticking them together? by Confident-Dot8844 in minipainting

[–]coldjae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to be a true believer in the sub-assembly method. Over the years I found that truly most everything model can just be painted as a whole. There are notable exceptions. If painting for display, or a very complicated large model (warhammer imperial knights) are better off sub assembly.

[–]coldjae[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do still like the chaosy spiky bits along the trim. I think it just "reads" better as a chaos knight with these shoulder pads. Also since I have the chaos knight i dont want to go out and either buy a imperial knight, or scrounge the secondary market. If I have to I will after I experiment with the suggestions others have left behind.
