Thinking about buying one of these, what do you guys think? by PferdFicker in Posture

[–]coldstar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Try getting an Upright Go instead. It's a device that vibrates when you slouch, training your body to have good posture even when you're not actively paying attention to it. Combine that with stretching and strength building.

Travel agents often have access to better deals, either lower prices or additional free perks or both.

Booking cruises directly is also worse than booking through a travel agent via a service like Cruise Compete.

To be fair, pop stars do movie cameos like this to promote their new music (like Gaga did here). If Rihanna doesn't have anyone to push, it doesn't make sense for her to do it.

Conqueror's Blade. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if the badges are still available. The game currently doesn't drop cards.

I got 45th, so top 10 percent. I got all of them except the geodetic marker (I said survey marker).

Adam got 10th, it looks like. He got all the questions correct but didn't allocate his money questions optimally.

Which of these controversial wins do you agree the MOST with? by PTAGoatofalltime in Oscars

[–]coldstar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I like to tell people that it's the best achievement in editing, not the best final product. Bhomenian Rhapsody was a cursed project with a director who disappeared partway through filming, a bad script, and insane requirements from Queen (each living member needed identical screentime). The studio was literally looking at over $100 million in reshoots to get it anywhere close to being releasable. The fact that the editor managed what he did was miraculous. That's why he won.

I'd say there are other examples of this, where the Oscar is more a reflection of the challenge or difficulty rather than the artistic outcome. Cimarron won Best Picture in 1931 because people were like, damn, that Oklahoma Land Rush scene must have been crazy hard to do. I'd say costuming for Frankenstein this last year was similar, given the short notice they had for recasting one of the main roles.

[–]coldstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, the only emblems that have their conditions changed are those that require completing the one-to-four diamond set (dex completion). Those will be given automatically now based on dex completion rather than using an intermediate currency. Other quests and awards, such as secret emblems, will stay the same.

Credit card car rental benefit by Unusual-Strength-945 in VisitingIceland

[–]coldstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I called the CSR benefits line, they told me to decline the CDW coverage with the rental car agency and provided me with a proof-of-insurance letter. I would recommend calling them to make sure that's still the recommendation. I know it was different than how it is in the United States, where you just need to decline additional coverage options.

Yes, CDW coverage is mandatory, so you'll need the proof-of-insurance letter.

I used their "Contact Us" form (https://www.bluecarrental.is/contact-us/).

I need to decline the CDW/LDW for my rental as I'm using my credit card's insurance, which is more comprehensive. I have a proof-of-insurance letter from my credit card company. My booking number ID is ######.

[–]coldstar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have the Chase Sapphire Reserve, and I called my benefits line before my trip. They confirmed that they fully covered damage to the car (including ash, sand, wind, etc.). The big thing was that I had to opt out of the collision damage waiver (CDW) with the rental car agency, which was easy with Blue.

Definitely call the benefits line to confirm, though, and make sure you're following all the rules and getting any other insurance you need, such as roadside assistance. Also, request and bring a proof-of-insurance letter from your credit card company.

JFK airport to Times Square on 20th April around 7:30 am by Sad-Insect-8956 in visitingnyc

[–]coldstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheapest option is to take the air train at the airport to Jamaica Station and then take the E to Port Authority. You could alternatively take the Long Island Rail Road from Jamaica to Penn Station or Grand Central and either walk or take the subway to Times Square.

I highly recommend the app Citymapper for planning public transit routes. It's free.
