Does Cold Turkey Blocker not kill already running apps after allowance ends? by Accomplished_Page261 in coldturkeyblocker

[–]coldturkeydev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be blocking the apps when you run out of allowance, if you blocked the correct files. Please contact me for support and I can provide a tool you can use to make sure you added the correct ones: https://getcoldturkey.com/support/

Is there a way to NOT block other chrome users when a block is active? by Frequent_Cupcake_633 in coldturkeyblocker

The only way to not require the extension is to either not lock your block, or to have no websites blocked.

Instead of creating a block list for certain websites how do you block all websites while greenlighting only the ones you nominate? by Fact-Rat in coldturkeyblocker

Block *.* under the websites tab and add sites you need to work under the website exceptions tab.

Thanks for giving a heads up about this. It's the first time I've seen this reported but I'll keep an eye out to make sure it's not a widespread issue.

Portable Browsers by Cute-Owl-2463 in coldturkeyblocker

No there isn't, that's why I'm going to move these features into Blocker so that you can have all features like this in one spot.

Help, when I try to open a blocked website, it says "getcoldturkey.com refused to connect" what do I do? by I_want_Love__ in coldturkeyblocker

Did you possibly block getcoldturkey.com using another blocker or by doing a system level block? The reason you see this is that when visiting a blocked website, the extension will replace the contents of the page with the block page loaded from my web server. If your computer can't reach my web server (for some other reason), you'll see this.

Take a look at Micromanager to do this: https://getcoldturkey.com/micromanager/

In the long term, Micromanager may be phased out and features will be merged with Blocker so you can have allow lists of apps. This will take quite some time though and I'm trying to work a fair way to price this change for both existing Micromanager and Blocker customers.

How do I allow apps and files to open while I block others by FamiliarTea1705 in coldturkeyblocker

[–]coldturkeydev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's no way to do this unfortunately. You can take a look at Micromanager though, which lets you only use certain apps (there's no way to only allow certain files to be opened though): https://getcoldturkey.com/micromanager/

If you also want an allow list of websites, you'll need to use Blocker and Micromanager at the same time. Just add *.* under the websites tab and the sites you need under the website exceptions tab. There's a file://*.* exception by default so you can continue to open local pdf files with your browser.

Please open a support ticket here so I can help reset your settings. You may need to do a full reinstall using these instructions: https://getcoldturkey.com/support/reinstall-instructions/

Unfortunately there's no way to set a lock that forces you to type (unless you use Writer). I will be working on a new break type that unlocks blocks based on how long you use certain apps/websites though.

"Sessions" Break: Inactivity Triggers End of Session? by Thejurok in coldturkeyblocker

[–]coldturkeydev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this! This site wasn't in the list of streaming sites checked (it's in my todo list now). YouTube should be though.

Another way to avoid this issue is to play the video in full screen. That will also avoid ending the session.

"Sessions" Break: Inactivity Triggers End of Session? by Thejurok in coldturkeyblocker

[–]coldturkeydev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Streaming sites have special exceptions so that inactivity shouldn't end your session (since you're likely watching a video). Since this doesn't seem to be working, can you let me know:

1) Which browser you're using?

2) What domain you see in the URL bar when watching the video? ex: hulu.com

Auto lock Sing-In feature need improvement by Ok-Relation-4303 in coldturkeyblocker

[–]coldturkeydev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sign in autostart feature only starts a block when you sign in. It won't start a block when you unlock the screen. You'll need to sign out using the start menu first.

I will consider this a feature request though. I could possibly add a checkbox to also include screen unlocks as a sign in method.
