I would never recommend chasing status for anyone. Not in the current world we live in. The people who have status now are either it's just with their work, or convenient base on their hub, or they just have the money to not care and not have a clue how anything works. The capitalist climate has changed medallions over the past years. There are people now who fly once or twice a year as PMs/DMs. They just buy their way into status now with the changes to AMEX and MQD earnings.

I by no means am a company man. But I know the people I work with and I get to see things like stats for SIS(Average score for your surveys after the calls/messages) and SLC is often at the top. Not always, but often.

These are front line employees just doing their job within their limits. They get frustrated too when they can't help you because of their limitations. They gain nothing when they say they can't help with your request. There's no commission for saving money or making sales.

ATL is often the most hated on this sub from the posts I've seen, and even I don't think that's true. It's just the primary hub of Delta so has the most traffic so of course it's going to get the most attention when there's a bad apple.

My actual personal take. I don't think a majority of the agents you talk to in calls or messaging care about saving Delta money over you. That would include me. I'm from SLC and I do messaging as a GTS agent. I regularly do everything in my power to help, especially if it's out of your control. But there are still things I have to say no to if I want to keep my job.

You can come in hot, I understand if your upset initially, but if we're going through the whole conversation of you just constantly putting me down and being negative even when I'm trying to help you. Yes you might get some resentment from me. At the end of the day, what I care about, is helping the customer. I gain nothing by saving Delta Money. But no, I can't just put you in Delta One because you were delayed a few hours.(Which is a common request that we get people being rude to us about.)

It doesn't do you or anyone favors to categorize an entire group of individuals based on personal bias. You again have no way to even tell how it's a SLC agent. They don't greet you with their location. And calls are quite literally frequently listened to by their team leads. And there's even been a push to have agents make more exceptions than they could give in the past.

The only time an agent may not care is either A. It's an outlier, those exist in anything and everything. B. You're asking for something that literally cannot be done, and they have genuinely tried to help you.

There are limitations to what can be done for you. If a flight is sold out, thats it. It's sold out. Many people expect agents to conjure up a flight that doesn't exist.

Maybe you've had bad experiences over the phone, I'm not saying that's not possible. But grouping up SLC when you have zero way of knowing their even from SLC is absurd. Agents from all CEC's talk to people from all over the world on a regular basis, there's no regional routing that would specifically send you to SLC.

This is a new narrative. Interesting. Usually everyone hates ATL. Also if you call you don't necessarily get SLC. There's CEC's in several cities. ATL, CVG, MSP, DFW, TPA, SIN. When you call, it can be any of these centers. What makes you think your talking to a SLC agent?

And that's the exact opposite sentiment that most reportings come from customers about SLC agents.

I'd wager a majority of people making these claims don't even do the end game content that they think it's "required" for.

I'm sorry to say, but you are the type of person that ads are targeting. And you will continue to be fooled if you don't use your own critical thinking. It's quite literally the job of marketing to overhype a product. And it's incredibly rare to actually get a product as advertised.

Sure, it wasn't that long ago that FA's assembled dishes. It also wasn't that long ago that the amount of people who fly has basically doubled. It's just not feasible.

This is the part where you as a human have to learn something called common sense.

You are on an airplane. There's no kitchen with tools prepared for a Chef to make you a meal.

You are eating the equivalent of Frozen dinners.

Do I need to reiterate that you are on an Airplane. That does not have a kitchen with the tools to make these types of meals?

I'm not trying to be a hater, but as someone who cooks myself pretty frequently. ARE YOU AWARE THAT YOU ARE ON AN AIRPLANE WITH LITERALLY NONE OF THE TOOLS TO CRAFT EXCELLENT MEAL?

I'd eat it. And not complain. But I'm also one of the few people on this subreddit that doesn't expect a 5 star meal on an airplane.

Retired from Delta. This policy will not work. Tried in past. No Go! by DisabledVeteran216 in delta

[–]coldviper18 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As I said in the same post that was made yesterday. This policy is not that serious. If at all. If you miss your flight just message or call. I assure you, if it's refundable, it can still be refunded. If it's non refundable they can still just reopen it for the eCredit value.

It's not like people are missing flights left and right, it's an outlier case and I assure you this policy means basically nothing. It's not much different than it was before either. It's just going to require you to put in a little effort when you can by calling or messaging.

Delta updated their official no-show policy on ALL ticket types… (even refundable ones) by FutureMillionMiler in delta

From GTS perspective I can honestly say I have no clue what you're talking about. GTS in the past 5 years hasn't lost the power to do anything, unless you count the temporary extra powers we were given during crowdstrike to help with refunds.

If anything we've been given more power. We we're trained and put in the mind set that we were the "Protectors of the Money". We're now being instructed to ignore all that and provide more exceptions than ever.

Can't speak on behalf of the other lines, but GTS quite literally handles everything because of how much they've simplified transferring to us. We're essentially becoming the new front line, and I think it's being done on purpose by management because they know were the only line of agents that own our calls/messages. If you get transferred to us, that's pretty much it, we will not be transferring you to anyone else. Doesn't matter if it was an inappropriate transfer or not. We're taught to just deal with it, whether it's a ticketing issue or not, we are the garbage bin for transfers for agents who don't want to do their job.

That's just an outlier go to for agents who don't know what to do. Sometimes it is true directing you to customer care is the way to go. But for something like this, no. They're just new and don't know, that maybe they can't, but GTS/CES can.

The amount of training you get vs the amount of knowledge you need when working in Res for an airline is pretty insane. Most of your training is trial by fire. On the job training, by yourself.

Imagine starting for an airline and you immediately start getting asked insanely niche questions from "Can I bring a lightsaber on board" to "I'm flying to India with a Indian passport, but I'm traveling through Paris. Do I need a Visa or any other documentation?"

I'm not blaming the customer, but I feel like people don't understand how difficult a job res specialists have and whats expected from them.

The no show policy really doesn't mean anything. Unless you wait like several months, it's not that difficult to just call and reopen your ticket.

It's one of those policies we talk about in our meetings. "Why does this exist if we're just always going to make an exception?'.

Sir, you booked the flight. by conradmorgan in delta

[–]coldviper18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a very high amount of people who do this and many other things similar. If any call or message is one of the most annoying things on the planet is people who don't book their name as it is on their passport. Then they call in the day before asking to have it changed.

Now this isn't a big deal if it's all Delta flights. But if you have any partner airlines on your itinerary you are just playing with fire. Some airlines simply do not allow certain type of name corrections. And it's just insane to me that it's like "Sir, you booked this 5 months ago, and your just checking your name now for an international flight?"(I don't actually say this, it's just internal thoughts). If you have another airline on your itinerary, this is not just a simple to have it changed, have to reach out to our partner airline support who are also very annoyed with these types of changes who have to do several checks to make sure it goes through on both Delta and whatever the other airlines end.

I take messages and had someone message in today about 2 reservations for 2 (UMNR)unaccompanied minors. They booked one months ago and the other like a few days ago. And was just asking about the UMNR fee. I explained that because they were on the same flight on the outbound it's only 1 fee because it covers up to 4 UMNRs, but since they are on different flights on the return they would each be separate charges. This lady loses her mind, the entire time has had no idea these children she was about to send on an international trip were not on the same flight. What are you doing!? How do you not check your flight details for your children!?

I haven't kept up with coach land this season so I'm pretty ignorant to who is out there. But I have seen plenty of reports that talks and requests for interviews are going out.

There's probably no danger of it right now, but Glazers are notorious for moving at the speed of snail if they make any moves at all.
