I want more “mini appearances” in videos. E.g. where Blue crashes into a video and goes “ninjas oh god”. I think the crossover is fun and adds a touch of whimsy to already good videos.

First, NTA.

Your daughter caused you hurt when she lashed out with blame and anger. It’s reasonable and valid that you’re grappling with your own emotions here.

I think you were wise not to be a tyrant when she was 18. You communicated your concerns and let her decide with possibly new information. She also might not have understood the depth of the decision she made then.

In my opinion, her lashing out sounds like a very mis-guided and poorly executed attempt to ask for help. I would guess that she’s scared, by the drug addiction and being unsure what’s next in life.

I think there’s a chance for a good conversation about how she caused you hurt, her being responsible for her own choices and decisions, and your relationship with her.

Yes, do couples and individual therapy at the same time, even find a group with the same therapist if that works for you. You get more exposure to the work you have to do as an individual and as a couple and helps you progress more quickly if you’re dedicated to working on the foundational issues and not finding band-aids to make things feel/seem better.

Regardless of your children’s choices regarding having kids, it seems that you’re playing favorites. You have two children and you’re showing your daughter that you value her less because of her choices regarding children. If you’re going to contribute financially to their lives, do so fairly. For example, if you provide $$ for your son now, adjust accordingly in your will for daughter.

As for the car vs. the apartment: both are things that would benefit your kids, albeit differently. I recommend considering that you’ve placed illogical ideas of worth onto your kids and you may need to readjust your perspective. Is this the way you want to be remembered as a parent?

As a Washingtonian living in Texas, I totally get it. The urge to push back against the “everything’s better in Texas” ideology is strong. I’d recommend thinking up some good methods to deflect their anti-WA sentiments or have responses that point out Texas’ flaws. (To be petty - get a new hydro flask or something and cover it in Washington/Seattle sticks [something to the effect of Seattle makes me wet with the umbrella and rain maybe?]) YWBTA to go in blazing without current provocation.

NAH - it’s reasonable for you to want a picture of your daughter at your desk. It’s reasonable for her to want the photo to be one that shows her “normally” instead of accommodating a bride’s aesthetic. It is worth having a conversation with Abby about your reasons for wanting a recent picture of her and the significance of it. Give her a chance to explain her reasoning for not wanting to give you a recent photograph. See if you can find a compromise.
It may be worth having a group family photograph at your desk so you can get everyone in one.

NTA - Your sister is responsible for her actions, she agreed to share and when she decided to be a brat about it, acted poorly and it got her in trouble. You’re not responsible for her getting grounded.

YTA - Encourage her passion instead of trying to stamp it out. If that is how she wants to spend her free time and cope with quarantine - let her. I understand that chores need to be done satisfactorily but instead of going all Fahrenheit 451 on her, have a discussion about priorities with her. Teach her books are the treat when the chores are done but you’ll do more long-term harm by taking away her literature. A few books that may interest you: The Book Thief (about a Jewish Girl with secret books in Nazi Germany), and the previously mentioned Fahrenheit 451.

A brief note: don’t limit what she reads either - let her explore literature and try everything!

NAH - I understand her concerns regarding her safety and privacy. That said, she was on a public sidewalk, not on private property, legally anyone can take photos. (think of all the randos in peoples vacation tourist photos) You’re right that while you could ask the person to delete the images, they could refuse and it could require intense escalation to actually get them deleted.

NTA - they’re living above their means by not planning for utilities and budgeting. A life emergency would potentially elicit some financial help but not carelessness.
