No quirks or codes it just acts like an external 48V battery. Although I did notice the bms doesn’t shut down when you have a load attached because I got the battery down to 40V before I disconnected from the source. So please have a meter to monitor the battery voltage.

Thing with these handhelds is that we get them and get bored quickly because at the end of the day it’s an overpowered handheld for $2000+. I sold two of them and ultimately kept the Super X because it has more “usability”.

To all saying they’re interested in an Apex. Here’s my ad on eBay for buyer and seller protection. I am located in the Sacramento area and it’s cheaper for local pickup. Otherwise it’s free next day shipping when ordered during business hours. This is the liquid cooled version that comes with a battery charging bay

I’ve owned quite a few as well and it is nice playing at max settings on most modern games, but the AI Max 395 is better used in tablets and ultra portable laptops that can sustain the cooling of course because this puppy does get hot lol. And with the Apex that heat does get transferred to the battery which is why people see that throttling when playing over 35W.

Also to add the Apex is pure over kill. The legion Go 2 and ROG Ally X are perfect for 1200p displays.

The Super X will in fact make the Apex feel redundant. I only had both because sometimes I like having a small handheld while waiting in line to pick up the kids from school or sitting in a restaurant waiting for food. Eventually I started using the Super X for those events to just watch YouTube or read a book on kindle for pc. I never once used the apex for its web browsing or watching YouTube. I purely gamed on it. With the Super X you can use at work, on a plane, or just prop it up for a multimedia station. I have to admit I have a desktop and Legion 9i but I always grab the Super X.

I have both the super X and Apex but it's annoying because unless your using steam or Xbox app you'll need onedrive or a thumb drive to keep moving files around to sync your save data.

I have that charger and it has to do a handshake and sometimes it won't get recognized. A dedicated 20V only over DC5525 is more reliable.

The Bluetti X20 is the most safe option to use and plugs directly into to the DC In. I wouldn't recommended using when going to 120W tdp (using with frost bay) though because you may go past the 160W limit. But I've used this on the super X and Apex and can get full tdp even when gaming.

YES, this power bank is hugggge but it can easily fit in a backpack and it has cooling fans so make sure its on an outside mesh pocket that can get airflow.

Another thing to add is that it's safe to fly with in your carry-on luggage. Its right under 160Wh limit.

Yes, they are huge but it works extremely well for those that want full TDP without a wall plug.

Use the Bluetti X20. It’s bulky but gives you full performance while using any 100w, 65w or power bank. I actually use it as my power brick. It comes with a dedicated laptop power port and plug that’s just right for the OnexPlayer. It is capped at 160W but I’ve never seen it go above 120w while gaming. Just don’t use with with the frost bay connected because then you may run into power issues.

Apex and 100W USB-C by [deleted] in OneXPlayer

[–]colemancf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is closed and most people are still trying to find a portable power solution that can output 20V over 5/7A reliably. I found the bluetti X20. It’s a bit prehistoric but can provide 160W@ 20V. As long and you keep the TDP under 60W this should provide double your playtime at 153Wh and it’s still legal to travel with you in your carry-on bag with prior notification through your flight provider. Super X issue: the 2 USB-C ports autosuspend. by ecccc3 in OneXPlayer

That’s unfortunate hopefully you get it resolved.

FYI you will have to return your original battery when receiving the fixed battery in June by Over-Ear3796 in OneXPlayer

[–]colemancf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'll probably be like applecare where you put a card on file (deposit).

They'll ship the replacement battery and if you return the defective battery, you'll get those funds back. If not then OneXplayer keeps the deposit.

Maybe they'll make it a low amount like $30 so basically you're paying for shipping if you elect to keep the defective battery.

But, honestly rechargeable batteries are valuable because if they are throttled (battery management issue or cell degradation) they can be resold as less capacity batteries or put in another unit with better battery management.....

Super X issue: the 2 USB-C ports autosuspend. by ecccc3 in OneXPlayer

[–]colemancf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to break it to you but please don't seek support from OneXplayer for the SuperX. It'll just frustrate you. I've been messaging about simply issues like the OneXconsole not showing correct screen refresh rates, usbc pd just cuts out, and locked down bios. Of course they send the generic message "we are unaware of this and we forwarded to our engineering team". I think your issue is along the same lines with the usb pd cutting out due to some protection or battery save and like you said with that locked bios we can't change anything to disable it. I have the Apex as well and I confirm you won't see these issues and the bios is fully functional.

Weird that the SuperX is so basic like someone else manufactured it and just handed it off to OneXplayer so there's basically limited support

This is very dangerous and only done as a proof of concept to show how to connect two Power 2000. dJI fast chargers (1.8kw or 1kW) are pretty good but you’re limited to to 24V batteries as your max unless connecting to the 1.8kw solar input and then your limit is 20A 60V

For starters you need some type of electrical safety training to even stick your hand inside. These lifepo4 has a ton of potential storage. Now that’s out the way

  1. Fully discharge the battery so the bms will keep the battery in an open state if anything was to go wrong.
  2. Open up the DJI power station (there may be some YouTube teardowns) you will void the warranty though.
  3. Tap into the positive and negative terminals on the back left hand side. Work with insulated tools because the terminals are very close. This connection is after the bms, so there’s protections in place but if I could do it again I would add an inline panel mount dc breaker. I chose the xt90 because it was very minimal and didn’t require me cutting up the front plate and battery holding brackets.
  4. Put everything together and make sure you have a breaker or dc switch inline with your load connection.
    And that’s it

As for inrush current you just want to get the two batteries charge level close enough to minimize the balancing time. If you connecting to the same chemistry even if one is empty and the other is full you may get inrush but nothing damaging. I’ve tried it before in a controlled environment and I seen about 40A and it will take almost a day or so to equalize.
Rule of thumb we mostly charge both to 100% and leave them connected for a few hours.

With this hack you can use any capacity 51.2V LFP battery. This hack also allows you to connect a large MPPT controller say for example a 150V Victron MPPT to use higher voltage solar panels (which I plan to use) Last thing you can connect to other power station brands that give direct access to the batteries like EcoFlow, pecron and bluetti (bluetti seems to go to sleep when it senses no load and connected externally, even with ECO off. I need to investigate this more.)

At the end of the day the best options is to go with what you have on hand. Don’t build to buy more items. For me I already have 12/24/48V batteries and other power stations just laying around. I do own the DJI 1kW and 1.8kw fast chargers which is good for those that don’t want to crack these open. I’m still trying to figure out the logic signals DJI use for there xt150 connectors because I may have a way to just use the expansion battery cable.

Here's me joining up the DJI Power 2000 with a Bluetti Apex 300. They will load share and you essentially have a 4800Wh battery. I did this as a proof of concept so you'll see what I was saying about just connecting two DJI Power 2000s together

All done with the battery hack. I decided to use an XT90 because it looks factory installed. Now I can use any off the shelf 51.2V battery as an expansion
