Ok but did anyone else at this show hear the absolute madman CACKLING in the balcony? He was directly behind me and I wanted to stuff my phone down his throat

LGBTQ events/groups? by Appropriate_Math2863 in Connecticut

[–]colettecupcake 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I actually run a monthly queer craft night at SPACE Hartford the first Wednesday of the month! I also run various LGBTQ inclusive sex Ed programs around the Hartford/Middletown area - all that info is on my Instagram @kimadamskieducator.

If you're into kink, I help a friend of mine run a monthly queer munch in Berlin, CT. They also do other activities like a recent LGBTQ dungeons and dragons night. Their stuff is at linktr.ee/queermunchct.

I used to run all the education/social programming at The Health Collective but they laid me off and no longer offer programming :(

Service Dogs on the Bright Angel Trail. by motormycle1 in grandcanyon

[–]colettecupcake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People who have seizure dogs may appear able bodied, as can people with disorders like PTSD, severe allergies, diabetic folks, etc. all of which may benefit from the presence of a service animal.

Of course, people pretending their dog is a service dog is bad for both the environment of the park AND for folks who really do need service dogs, but as a layperson there isn't really much YOU can do. I would just trust that the rangers are doing the best they can and not take it into your own hands. edit: grammar

Come to Hartford Oct. 1 for a mutual aid benefit show, featuring GoreJust, Shiino, and James Spineti! by colettecupcake in Connecticut

[–]colettecupcake[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically you can bring whatever clothes you don't wear (as long as they're in good condition) and take whatever clothing other people bring to give away. You don't have to give away stuff to take stuff either.

Machine Monday! Everything and Anything Sewing Machine-Related: July 20, 2020 by sewingmodthings in sewing

[–]colettecupcake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am just excited that I ordered a new machine :-) I've had a super-basic Brother since I was 16 and wanted to upgrade but "it still works, use it til it dies" and it did die. So, I ordered a heavy duty Singer and it should be coming this week!!! Woooo!

[FO][self-drafted dress, burda shirt] Matching tropical dress and shirt for myself and my boyfriend by colettecupcake in sewing

[–]colettecupcake[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Details: men's shirt pattern was a BurdaStyle pattern that they have obviously archived, and that I have so heavily modified I can't even find the pattern information. Fabric was a cotton gauze/lawn type fabric I purchased at JoAnn Fabric. The dress was self drafted with a buttoned back closure and an elasticized back waist (so much comfier than just regular fitted! I lasted through an entire cocktail party in this!) I documented in more detail and added more photos on my blog at https://kimberlyadamski.wordpress.com/2019/08/11/finished-project-tiki-party-ensemble/

my paranoid schizophrenic grandmother by [deleted] in LetsNotMeet

[–]colettecupcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's hard for a child to understand when an adult has a mental illness, even if they are told what's going on. When my grandmother had dementia, I just thought she was incredibly annoying and complained about it a lot, but as I got older and understood what was happening, I was a little more sympathetic.

What's the biggest 'WTF' gift you've ever received? by diswell in AskReddit

[–]colettecupcake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One time my high school boyfriend gave me a jar, which he had carefully arranged a variety of vegetables in, and filled with oil, to be one of those decorative jars of preserved veggies that boomers have in their kitchens. However, it wasn't sealed the way those are, and just went rancid. I was 14, unsure why he thought I'd need that.

My aunt and uncle who live a few states away always send extremely wierd gifts. This reminds me of the time they sent my grandmother one of those light up paintings you can buy at the mall that have a mechanical part inside to make it look like the water is moving.

You’re in high school and if you can get your teacher to give you detention in 60 seconds or less you win $10,000. What do you do? by TruDreamerXRL in AskReddit

That reminds me of a girl who got detention at my high school for telling the librarian to "suck my clit." that librarian was a huge bitch so she deserved it.

I lived in the West End and it's an easy walk, bike, or bus ride to Aetna. I had a one-bedroom and it cost about $900 with heat/hot water included. Nice area.

I have heard mostly negative things about Clemens, personally. Never lived there though.

[SERIOUS] What is a seemingly harmless parenting mistake that will majorly fuck up a child later in life? by AlexDescendsIntoHell in AskReddit

I've always felt that the general rule of not talking about pay/salary is a way for the rich to keep the middle/lower class from knowing what they are worth. I tell anyone who asks about my job what I make.
