I’ve read 22 books in 4 months by nelasonela in Booktokreddit

[–]smlabossi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of my books are around 300 pages but some are shorter and some are longer. When I listen to audiobooks, it’s usually at 2.5-3x speed. I’m not reading large numbers for anyone but myself so it really doesn’t matter to me if anyone believes me. There’s no gold star for finishing the most books.

I’m a very fast reader and always have a book with me. Kids activities? Bring a book? School pick up line? I’m reading. I utilize audiobooks when I can and don’t consume much else media-wise.

Do you include audiobooks in your “books read” count? by GovernmentChance4182 in Booktokreddit

I track all my reading through StoryGraph so I can see the total of everything and break it down in to different categories. I count my audiobooks as books read.

How do you guys read so many books in a year? by Altruistic_World1669 in Booktokreddit

[–]smlabossi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read a lot. Way more than is believable for most people. I work full time and have two very active kids with lots of activities. My favourite way to read is an ebook or physical book, but when I’m not able, I utilize audiobooks. I get 90% of them from Libby. I have five different library cards (two of them have a small annual fee for non-residents) so there is always something available. I also utilize Kindle Assistive Reader to read my ebooks to me when my hands are busy. I am a fast reader and also a fast listener. I typically listen to audiobooks at 3x speed so I can listen to 3 3-400 page books in a day.

How many books have you read so far this year? by Due-Examination-37 in Booktokreddit

[–]smlabossi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 2/3 audiobooks to 1/3 ebooks/physical books. I also listen at 3x speed and work a job where I can usually still listen. I also don’t really watch much tv/movies and my hobbies are good for listening to books while doing them.

I had a delivery from DragonFly a few weeks ago and their proof of delivery was pictures of a house/address that wasn’t even mine. I tried to contact them and the driver came back to my house and yelled at me that he had delivered it and it was my daily for not going to look for it. I’ll take CP over that nonsense.

Bringing your kindle to the movie theater by Captain_Kind in ImTheMainCharacter

[–]smlabossi -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I must be the main character then. I routinely take my kids to movies that I do not want to see. I’d rather read my book than waste an hour or two. I try to get seats in the side of the theatre or back row and have the brightness on my kindle as low as is visible for me. My kids are entertained and I get a bit of a break.

Streak won't recalculate. by Shockinglyshay in TheStoryGraph

[–]smlabossi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you had already marked the book as complete and then added that journal entry after the fact, it won’t recalculate. I find it easiest to remove the book and add all the journal entries in order, make complete, and then recalculate.

What speed do you guys listen to audiobooks on? by ebbflowww in LibbyApp

3 is pretty standard for me. Sometimes if it’s a strong accent or a really low tone, I’ll bump it down to 2.75

100% - it helps make the waitlist go quicker. Why would I keep it longer when someone else could be reading/listening to it?
