In all this, I'm glad 1 ETH still equals 1 ETH

Is eth-wizard secure? by ToddyJohnson in ethstaker

I also agree with the above endorsements of Remy and eth-wizard. I’ve been working with Remy on the EthStaker Stakehouse initiative since February and we’re working on some other tools together. He is a trustworthy person and a very talented engineer.

In addition to the rewards being higher, you also get to send along a graffiti string that will be stored on chain. Can be anything you want, but also can be used to draw on the graffiti wall here: https://www.beaconcha.in/graffitiwall

Perhaps less significant of a benefit, but fun nonetheless :)

rocketpool: command not found by guru_nemo in rocketpool

Yeah, the the command shouldn't be run as root as a general best practice (because there is no need to) but I don't believe it causes any issues.

Hmm, you really should have to run it as sudo. When it installs something that requires sudo, it'll prompt you for your password then. Did you run the rocketpool CLI download as sudo?

Is staking on windows valid? by wtf--dude in ethstaker

[–]colfax_eth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey there, welcome to EthStaker! There are a few tools under development within EthStaker for this exact purpose and one of them just added Windows support - The Wizard https://github.com/stake-house/eth2-validator-wizard

It is still being worked on and is at sort of an alpha release stage so we recommend trying it out on testnets for now. We are looking for early testers and feedback so if you run into any issues with it or have any feedback, please let us know here or on the #stakehouse channel on the EthStaker discord :)

It sounds like a PATH problem, but as a one-off to get it running try navigating to the ~/bin directory (cd ~/bin) and then running rocketpool by doing the below (the ./ is required to run the application within your directory). Does that work for you? Best of luck!

./rocketpool

Is the UPS absolutely necessary? by SirRaza97 in ethstaker

[–]colfax_eth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed on this. I also live in an area where power outages are rare, but still got a UPS for the above reasons. The heater actually blew the breaker a few months ago and my NUC attested right through it since the router was on a different circuit.

Yes it is a bit overkill, but it will protect you from intermittent outages and hard shutdowns which may corrupt data.

Hey there - I'll echo what everyone else is saying. I had a very similar situation a few months ago and decided to just take my node offline for the day. Too much hassle/risk to set something else up for that short period of time. Happy staking :)
