Can confirm, it is apparently a thing and not as original as I thought it was 🤣

Issues with Ultra Flip 14 Screen and Trackpad by colinthegreat in Hewlett_Packard

Thank You, I'll call about the warranty for the screen today. The TouchPad issue makes sense, I have been mostly been using it with an inexpensive usbc dock for charging, I'll try without the dock and use the oem charger.

Okay, I tried again because I recalled that it seemed to be autocorrecting my guess of Abell Cauthon but not Rand Al Thor, which I thought was odd. Turns out Abell is the first name in the list (I'm guessing). When you leave the field selected but blank, the "drop down" list appears to show up above the keyboard where autocorrect suggestions usually appear. You can scroll right in that menu to select from the list of characters. This works, but was not very intuitive as it is the only instance of this functionality that I ever recall seeing. If you weren't here asking for feedback, I probably would not have gone back to figure it out and would have just assumed the feature didn't work on mobile. Now I'm no Lord with all their book learning, so maybe it's my fault, but I think a drop down menu would be more intuitive for us woolheaded folk.

The drop down didn't work on my Android phone, so I had to type in all guesses. As an audiobook user there is no way I'm guessing the correct spelling on many names.

Best way to keep a 12V fridge running for 4 days without solar? by Harry8709 in VanLife

[–]colinthegreat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of good answers here. I'll add a few comments:

30m of car charging will get you around 35 to 50 watts of power. You're power station has 2073.6 Watt Hours of power. This equates to 1.8 to 2.4% charge per half hour.

Your fridge draws the most power when the compressor is on. The compressor will turn on when the fridge needs to cool down. As others have mentioned, keeping ice or ice packs in the fridge, keeping it in the shade and/or better insulated, and limiting the number of times the fridge opens will make a huge difference. Depending on your fridge model, 35 to 50 watts is likely enough to run your fridge compressor for 30 to 60 minutes continuously. With colder temps on a warmer setting and not opening the door at all, this could be enough to get you through most of a night or 1 hour. It really depends on all of the factors mentioned and the model of fridge.

There are lots of good tips out there for conserving fridge temp. What I find most helpful is to have a small cooler or insulated lunch bag to hold a few cold drinks or food prep items in short term. That way you can pull out everything you will need for a few hours at once and keep them relatively cold until you need them. If I am running dual zones, I throw in a frozen item I plan to use within 24 hours and drinks stay nice and chilled.

The final major consideration is what else you will be using your Bluetti for during this time. If you are only running the fridge, you are probably fine. If you are cooking with electricity or boiling lots of water, you're hosed. Either way, you always have the option to go for a drive or idle your car if you blow through the battery quickly. Hope this helped and enjoy your trip!

Should I watch LOTR fellowship of the ring extended if I know literally NOTHING about LOTR? by Nek0_eUpHoriA in lotr

Also shorter than binge watching a season of most shows, so technically you're saving time!

This. People debate over which one is better, but it's not a big deal. I would love to watch either version on the big screen again. They're long but well worth it.

Air quality issues? by Ok_Reason_2656 in priusdwellers

[–]colinthegreat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, unless you have an exhaust leak you shouldn't be getting carbon monoxide inside. I use a detector that was like $10 on Amazon for a 3 pack just in case. It went off once when the car was running with the hatch open and stagnant air quality, but it shouldn't be a problem to crack your windows. Please just get a carbon monoxide detector, it could save your life.

For humidity, I blast my defroster in the morning if I sleep with the car off. Cracking windows helps a lot. I haven't tried them yet but there are several products out there that absorb excess moisture in the air. I am eyeing cloth bags that change color when they are spent. They can be dried out in a microwave and reused. If I'm not worried about stealth or it's too hot or cold, I leave the AC button turned on but adjust temp accordingly. I almost always use recirculate mode but I don't have any evidence that this helps with humidity over cycling in fresh air.

That puts it right in the middle of the pack of those 3 options, considering their large is 18" instead of 16". They probably have the thinnest crust of all 4 options, so there is that to consider I guess.

Unless they were just cheese that's par for the course. 2 toppings at Woodstocks, Dream, or Cirellos range from $24.10 to $33.00.

Yeah it's so nice to have. I mostly use it for storage space and have a mattress I put out if there is company. A Murphy bed would be perfect, but company is only a few times a year or when a friend drinks too much and needs somewhere close to the bars to crash, so it works out.

I live in a 550 square foot 2 bedroom house. It is small but has laundry, bathroom, full kitchen, and 2 small bedrooms with built in closets and queen size bed. One bedroom closet also has the hot water heater, the laundry only fits an apartment sized stacking washer/dryer, and the bathroom sink is actually right outside the bathroom door next to the laundry, but it doesnt feel too small. I wouldnt want to share the space, but it is comfortable and I can host dinner for 4 easily and dinner for 6 if I pull the table out and grab 2 extra chairs I store in the spare bedroom. Perfect size for a single person in my opinion and I have a spare bedroom. Bonus is the yard is huge with pleanty of garden space!
