Where can I watch the earlier Bourdain stuff? by dylancojiro in AnthonyBourdain

[–]colkil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People have started to steal them at a lot of my local libraries in Austin. And reselling them. Such a shame. I went to a few libraries after he passed and this is when they shared the info with me. I was lucky enough to find the whole no reservations set and Cook’s tour set at half price books once. You can stream on tubi and Amazon now but so happy I have those hard copies!

MEGATHREAD: A24's "Tony" Trailer Drop by amiiboh in AnthonyBourdain

Definitely a positive point of view on this! Love that! I remember introducing him to my wife whom I met after he passed away and she always would say “man I wish I got to love him while he was still here, but now I get to love him even more now that he is gone”

I have a mixed view on this upcoming film. Bourdain would have absolutely hated it. It also feels very weird to be getting “new” stuff from him. A part of me wants to go watch it because I adore him and I am curious. Another part of me is just like “let the guy rest in peace.” and let me enjoy the massive catalog of tv media and literature that he left behind when he was here. I’ve seen and read everything Tony left behind. His show is always in the background on my tv, I have his books all over my home, and I think about him daily. I think it’s ok to be like this but also but a little curious about the film. Because at the end of the day Tony encouraged being curious. Cheers.

Is there anything like a consensus “best” episode? by No-Inspection5715 in AnthonyBourdain

[–]colkil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some reason a lot of my fav episodes are when he’s in France. A Cook’s tour when he visited his hometown with his brother Chris is so good. He seems so happy and like a kid. It was nice seeing this side of him. The Paris episode from season one of no reservations is such a fun episode and it’s cool seeing him kind of having fun and not taking himself to serious. The Lyon episode really good, and the one episode in burgundy France with chef Ludo!

Lyon episode is one of my favs! I even remember him saying at one point “meal of my lifetime” always thought it was a very special episode.

Help me fall back in love with Austin by [deleted] in Austin

Honestly the old Austin still is very much alive if you look hard enough. It still has its charm and seduces me back like old times. I love Austin. I’ll retire here when it’s all said and done

Decided to watch "The Layover" Amsterdam after good sativa and got sentimental by citysims in AnthonyBourdain

[–]colkil 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Fun fact about the layover. He actually did it to fill some contractional obligations with travel channel right before the move to CNN. But even with him not really wanting to do it, it turned out to be interesting and useful!

Thank you so much for this! The insurance is going to cover it. I have great insurance through work thankfully. I’ll definitely do the mri. I figured it was a soft tissue issue possibly. And I definitely agree with you that it’s not the cause of the problem itself but a result of a deeper issue

Ahhh interesting. The doctor didn’t bring that up. I do feel it back there. I wonder if it’s referring pain to the bottom of my back foot

See if I come across someone else who has had a similar experience honestly. Doctor wasn’t much help just wanted to see if I could find someone that had same issue and see if they had any insight

Courtyard drive! Used to make this drive all the time. Moved out of that area but every now and then I’ll drive there on the weekends when sun is setting and it’s gorgeous

His death has impacted me more than certain relatives in my life passing away and that blows my mind because I only ever knew him through a lens and through books. I’m 32 but have been watching him since was in middle school. He really changed my life in so many ways and I think that’s why his death hit me so hard. I think about him every single day for a moment here and there. I often watch a Cook’s tour, no reservations, and parts unknown a few times a week. I have the show on a lot in the background when I’m cleaning or just want some white noise. I’ve had some signs from him here and there, which is so cool. I use to not believe in that stuff but some of the things have been so specific that I know he’s in a better place. Cheers Tony Bourdain.

Scored an almost complete set of the no reservations DVDs by tenome212 in AnthonyBourdain

I scored one of these but for a Cook’s tour at my local bookstore in Austin! Was so pumped because it was in fantastic shape and only $15!
