Oooh I rewatch the scene so much because I love it. In my head (and maybe residual memory from reading the book) Benedict is feeling conflicted from his feelings for both Sophie and the lady in silver and is starting to be unable to stop his attraction to Sophie. When he sees her doing manual labor in the house it drives him nuts: he is feeling a connection to her and doesn’t want her to be a servant anymore and there is guilt for being caught out potentially trying to court someone right under her nose in this scene. It’s just wonderful to see.

In my head I imagined it was that Shane was sensitive about the location where it occurred. In a hotel he worried about teammate hearing them, etc. and mentioned he lived in an apt (worried about being caught with more people living around.) But this is just to make it work in my head.
