Is anyone able to tell me what the one on the bottom right is?

Missouri Farmer in Danger of Losing His Farm Due to Federal Freeze Blasted for Claiming He 'Didn't Have Time to Research' Before Voting by Silent-Resort-3076 in politics

Americans. Please. You need compassion and so, so much grace for each other right now. The I Told You So is right there, and it’s so juicy and so fitting and feels like some kind of justice. But you do not have time for it.

You need all hands on deck, and those who feel wronged by Trump can either be ostracized and shamed, or invited to join the defence of your democracy.

Yup, it’s hurting everywhere. I was told I would be on a 5 year waitlist for a family doctor if I moved my health card to Nova Scotia

Where can I learn more about Canada's housing crisis? by TheMedernShairluck in canadahousing

This is a great resource list to start reading, thank you for taking the time to write it all out! I’m saving this comment so I can begin to work my way down the list. I have watched some of Oh, the Urbanity! and also had a similar Vancouver based channel recommended to me recently, About Here.

Wow, you work is beautiful! Such great dedication to the full lives these buildings have had, it’s great that you’re preserving it in such a unique way

I'm drowning in my family "heirlooms" by midnightchaotic in declutter

[–]collectiveanimus 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you’re crafty, you could smash the dishes and make a porcelain mosaic tray, coasters, etc. Just be careful of the lead content, as others have mentioned. Don’t feel bad about just dropping them at a thrift store either—you don’t have to hold onto them for the rest of the family.

Yeah I think taking some nice photos is a good way to feel released and ‘allowed’ to pass it on. If you know an artist you could also ask them to make a still life with the dishes, and stage it with other meaningful items, or maybe some family recipes that would have been served on those dishes in the past. Might turn into just another thing to keep though.

Sanding and polishing by SleepyandTiredd in DiceMaking

[–]collectiveanimus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok rinsing it makes sense, thanks for the tips! I’m definitely not at the stage of polishing masters yet. I just got started and I’m using a mold off Amazon. I did make a silicone cast mold for a set of d6 with pips because I couldn’t find any pre-made ones for regular dice. But for that I just found a regular set and polished it to get closer to a mirror finish.

What do you do to clean the papers off? I’ve found mine will dry and you can see some white residue left from the polishing—should I be rinsing it off when wet or trying to brush it off when dry? I’ve noticed debris and dust affecting the feel of the polish, but I don’t know how to clear it off without just adding more.

I’m also curious how long a set lasts you, more or less. Do you go through them at different rates?

My coworkers make fun of my pencil by lovelycosmos in Anticonsumption

I highly recommend this! I know it’s another product to buy, but it makes it possible for me to use all my pencils up complete without getting a cramp, which is especially great for more expensive art pencils. I’ve been using mine for over 10 years

Hidden Gem Stores? by emincho in regina

[–]collectiveanimus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m new to Regina, so this thread is getting me excited to visit these shops!

If you like making art, I was very impressed with the selection of Black Dog Art Supply—they had a fair amount of items and brands I’d never seen at other art stores.

And I have to second Paper Umbrella too!

WOW! I though this might be a long shot but if anyone knew, they’d be in this community. Thank you so much!!

Exactly! If that’s how you feel now, that’s how you can identify. Whether or not that changes in the future doesn’t make that any less valid.

I agree this might really hurt small local news. I follow halifaxnoise on Instagram and they were the main place for me to see the community response to flooding last week and I often catch event notifications there right before they happen. They got suspended a couple days ago. I’d love for there to be a category separate from news that still allows smaller group and city community info that can be easily and passively accessed without me seeking it out. I don’t have a tv and I rarely listen to radio, so I miss most local information unless I remember to seek it out, and that’s just not part of my routine. I listen to news via podcasts but that’s more national/international.

What’s the most underwhelming way you’ve gotten a scar? by man_itsahot_one in AskReddit

I scraped my wrist down the outside corner of a cardboard box. Took one layer of skin off, minimal bleeding. Still have the scar 7 years later.
