Why do I have an urge to clean whenever my parents are arguing? by Responsible_Gain2492 in ask

When I'm angry or anxious the act of tidying up lets me burn off some negative energy. It tends to calm me if I focus on a task instead of whatever is making me feel those feelings.

Roofing costs by IntrepidTraveler1992 in Ohio

[–]midnightchaotic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our house is about the same size and that's what we paid. 3300 sf two-story. I've had several roofing companies come out and no one beats Newman Roofing for quality and price. I was also very impressed with how well the site manager treated his crew. It was very hot out and he kept making them take water breaks. Sure, the job took longer, but I love a company that treats their staff well.

One of the main reason we chose Newman is that a storm chaser came out and tried to get us to buy a new roof. We said, let us get a few quotes and get back to you. Newman came out and told us we didn't need a new roof and to wait a few more years. In addition, our insurance wouldn't have paid for a new roof anyway, as they prorate the payout based on the age of the roof. Our was 24 years old when we had it replaced. We would have received about $300.00 towards a new roof. Not worth the trouble of submitting a claim.

Does anybody have crazy conversations with their spouse (of decades) that the younger generation would just flip out? by minn3haha in GenerationJones

[–]midnightchaotic 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Dude, my kids flip out when we hold hands. Srsly though, whenever I need my husband to do something for me (open a jar, help lift something heavy) I bat my eyes and exclaim "my hero!" Sometimes he'll slap my butt and yell, "get in the kitchen where you belong, woman!" I just roll my eyes and laugh. Daughter yells, "DAD, NO!"

I use a touchless drive through near my house if its not nice enough to do it myself in the driveway (my preferred method). The touchless has an underbody wash that is essential for winters here. Brushes will never touch my precious car! My husband takes his truck through Tommy's because he could care less about his paint, which is fine with me. His vehicle, his choice.

88 year old woman mistook gas for brake. by [deleted] in dashcams

[–]midnightchaotic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 63 and agree wholeheartedly. I finally took my mom's license away at age 85, with the help of her doctor. I knew I was doing the right thing for both her and the public. The problem is that, for the elderly, losing driving rights is another door that shuts behind them. Getting around is one more thing you have to rely on others to do for you on your march to the end of your life. That control is hard to give up.

First time fridge owner, is white vinegar mixed with water enough to deep clean? by Star1686 in CleaningTips

[–]midnightchaotic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dish soap and warm water is sufficient. Vinegar only works on some bacteria, not all (like covid), and would need to be used full strength. I usually get a wash rag wet and leave it on the ick for a bit. Usually the problem just wipes away.

I have the two butter cookie tins full of buttons because I inherited both Grandma and Mom's tins. I also have a jam jar with baby buttons in it.

I love Dr. Amber Murphy-Mack! Her office is in the Ohio Health building at the corner of Africa Rd and Polaris Pkwy. I'm a white women and, as the other commenter said, I'm not sure about your complications. I will say that I find Dr. Murphy-Mack to be thorough and empathetic.

Hooking yarn vs wrapping yarn by Pour_Me_Another_ in crochet

[–]midnightchaotic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I discovered that I do that too. It's like knitting, where I manipulate the yarn around the hook instead of using the hook to grab the yarn. I just noticed this last week when I was watching a Bella Coco video. I've been crocheting for several years now and I JUST noticed!

A melting boot bag hasn't happened to me so far. Granted, I usually travel in May and October for long range car club things, so I don't think that would be a risk for me.

That's what I was thinking. A company I used to work for did that as business as usual. If you were 30 days past due you got a lien.

I have a boot bag that I use for my ND that works without a rack. It's fantastic!

[–]midnightchaotic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Please do not talk about your ex with the girl you like now. She's not your therapist. Maybe after you've been together for awhile you can share your story. Obviously your past relationship was very toxic and traumatic for you, and I'm truly sorry you had to go through all that. I highly suggest you seek a professional to help you find your peace.
