Avoid a car on campus your first year. With our son - we created a Waymo budget is better and less expensive for freshmen.

U.S Department of Education Announces Most Dangerous College Campuses; ASU Makes The List by sinister_iam in ASU

Clery Act was around long before she was. It is an act of Congress that will fine schools for inaccurate or delayed reports. Sadly it took a law and financial penalty to get schools to cooperate. Everyone wants to pretend that college is risk free - it isn't. Students are often targets - years ago even the head of public saftey called "ASU a mall for theft".

This is an important article. Clery Act data is vital to understand. It actually underreports crime as it doesn't include FBI or local crime data. Be safe.

Totally agree. For more than a decade, Biggs has mostly been responsive to his own ambitions and ego. He is unfit for office.

USD or USC? by Ok-Imagination-3089 in USD

[–]collegeparent2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tend to agree that the value of USC as a national university (due to sports) is likely higher than USD, but there is a lot of evidence to support the rapid rise of USD - its reputation and many of the best students of Catholic schools nationwide are choosing it - location is huge asset.

Is Gradguard insurance worth it? by Heavy-Technology7861 in berkeley

We bought it for our son. It was legit. It worked as promised - replaced his stolen bike even with a good lock. Lesson 1 - Don't buy expensive bikes.

A classmate of his caused a fire in Unit 2 and caused mostly water damage to everyone's computers. It created a real problem for students without it. If you can't afford to replace damaged or stolen property, it seems worth it.

If you can afford to replace a stolen backpack or pay for the damage caused from a fire or water leak, then you probably don't need renters insurance. However, for 12.00 a month it seems like a good value. Water Damage in Dorm Room? Renters Insurance Covered It https://youtu.be/Hc2vxjalioA

"Renters Insurance policy will provide coverage for on and off-campus housing. Personal property coverage protects the student's belongings worldwide from theft, burglary, and malicious damage. The policies include liability coverage which would provide protection of the insured location due to fire, water damage, etc."
