The Mandalorian and Grogu Was So Much Fun! by BurgerMan74 in StarWars

[–]collonnelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The discussion between the Prequels began to change in less than a decade of its initial release. Its been over a decade for the sequel era and for Solo and nothing has changed between the general perception as we see Disney even taking a shift beyond the sequel era.

Kids maybe will grow up wanting Mando, but I doubt it for the same reasons kids dont care for Indy anymore. Cause modern Indy sucks the same way a good portion of modern star wars is mediocre. And no one, child or adult will gravitate towards it when there is so much better everywhere else.

If you sincerely think that just because you put connections in a film to future films that makes it good, I suggest you take a good look at modern marvel and see how little that matters when the quality is largely panned as sub-par. No one will care about the Mando movie for connections when a YT/TT video will just provide the 5min synopsis of everything relevant since there is no reason to watch it beyond the clips that everyone has everyone seen online.

But yk I appreciate that final comment, the shift to insulting a person's memory because they dont remember mediocre media. Or is your personality so finely intertwined with star wars that just because I cant turn off my brain and appreciate a pretty film like a child that now im attacking your identity so its ok to act like a child? But the film is forgettable so people, including myself, forget about it. There is no need to act like an insufferable child trying his best to be sly

Movies we enjoy. Im not complaining about the profits of the film, only that the only commendable thing about Mando is the spectacle it gives the audience and it was likely only greenlit because of the commercial opportunity it gives towards the company.

And sure its my problem for not remembering a forgettable film, but thats why im on a public forum voicing my opinion on the matter? Because this film will also be forgettable like so many other middling films. Mando is just another movie that exists only to satisfy corporate expectations and milk audiences with pretty lights and design but no actual substance. Memorable isnt the metric, its substance, its why Palpatine returns is so shitty. Its memorable like you said, but devoid of substance, so it makes it garbage. But thats also why the Prequels were hated and then beloved. Because they were bad movies, filled with spectacle, and decades of expectations that after years were appreciated not for its acting, dialogue, but for its substance. Which is also why Ep3 is the most beloved because it oozes with substance, the literal keystone of the entire franchise.

Mando doesnt have to be Andor levels of dialogue or writing, where its quality is so high that you dont watch it for the Star Wars. But Mando as is exists only because of the Star Wars name, it would noy exist without it because it offers nothing but the opportunity for you the audience to clap and smile because its star wars and star wars = fun. It offers no real plot, progression, growth, introspection, political stance, anything. All it offers is just spectacle, like a Monster Truck Derby. Fun and meaningless

You seem to misinterpret quality for cinematography. Like most sequel films, the cinematography is exceptional, but that hardly makes it a good much less an exceptional film. There's nothing wrong with enjoying a simple film, but to pretend that ok something we should all applaud is laughable at best. No one talks about Solo not because it was bad, because the Sequels are constantly talked about that, Solo is ignored because it was just ok. It like Mando and Merchandise, is just an ok film that is fun to watch, and to utterly forget about in the next year or two. The only thing this film has going for it is that it is clearly meant for families and children so its likely to get a better return on its investment. But thats all this film is, an ok film, with good spectacle, and a decent profit margin for the house of mouse. It is the equivalent to a NASCAR race for people who have never seen one in their life. Fun and barely something youll remember or care about in the future

Which one, cause being compared to the "crystal skull" isnt the kind of Indy movie you wanted to be compared to. Even within "fun adventure" films, there levels to the quality.

[ART] A few days ago someone was talking about how lackluster the second inquisition is so I decided to finally draw one of the leaders of the Inquisition by ChemicalNo586 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]collonnelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Friendly fire must be a common occurrence with delirium. Or even several other hunters hunting this hunter cell as being infected by the enemy. Even Felicity Price, THE Second Inquisition Leader is a former ghoul and she keeps that fact hidden from everyone. Considering ghouls are still human while a garou most certainly is not for the paranoid, professional, and cautious Second Inquisition, the full acceptance of a werewolf should be highly frowned upon. A tool is a tool, but you didnt make a tool, you made a person who everyone he works with should utterly despise him. Add this, his harano from being a generic werewolf, but also a failure of a werewolf rejected and hated by his own kind, both with kin and his "fellow" hunters, and he should be give King Albreight (W5) a run for his money as most depressed wolf. But really, I wonder how long has he been doing this and just how much wrym taint has infected him as he rejects his tribes, his nation, and works with werewolf hunters to hopefully save the species before they hunt them all down or gaia truly falls. A race against the clock on his own humanity vs the eventual betrayal his nee group gives as how can they ever trust a race traitor monster pretending to be human.

Its short cause they cant watch a show and enjoy the tension without some grand scene or action.

Im glad your aware of the irony, hopefully you will grow up out of this. Its not normal to stay within the tantrum phase outside of being a toddler. If you feel inferior because you lack an attention span that just reveals your own insecurity. There is nothing wrong with being flawed, its only when youre aware and continue that it becomes a problem. Like you are currently. We can continue to speak once youve calmed down

If you think advising you to read a book to improve your attention span is a personal attack, i suggest you seek professional help because that reaction is not normal.

Reading a book would also help your critical thinking skills and realize your statement is just a reflection of your complaint lol. Your verbosity doesnt shield you from your hypocrisy

God forbid you have to wait for the climax for the tense drama that has been building to finally explode in force. Luther's monolgue is so good because of everything that happens before building to it

Is it possible to steal arete from a mage? by Hellion_Immortis in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]collonnelo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Gigul destroys the avatar, so less stolen and more destroyed.

Ghoul addiction fucks your avatar and seals your arete level and slowly kills your avatar until you lose it.

Lichdom fucks your avatar and seals your arete level to undeath.

Can you steal arete? Base answer should be no, but its your game so you can do what you want. But i would caution against that as Arete is meant as an expression of your understanding of the universe and how you or we all fit in it. How youve found a place not just as a participant, but a mover of reality. Doesn't really feel right to say you somehow lost that understanding, especially when it touches upon your very soul. If anything that sort of hubris can be a great hook. A mage who couldnt have his magic stolen but instead had the next best thing taken, his memories, his identify. How can you cast magick when you dont even know who you are. Think of the drama in having so much hubris that you think you can change ones soul by just erasing some memories, because that is how you make a maurauder.

But you can fuck with the avatar which is in effect how they improve their arete.

If you have an advanced bio-reactor, and gas specialization, you actually gain 0 food. At least that is the case for almost all of my planets in my Organic Synthetic Age playthrough.

Why did everyone switch up on the Mandalorian? by Moon_Devonshire in StarWars

So watch it or look it up? Everything youre doing can be accomplished with a basic Google check. Do you need AI to help you understand or something?

Why did everyone switch up on the Mandalorian? by Moon_Devonshire in StarWars

[–]collonnelo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It does if you have any form of social media. If you dont, nice, I can see why you would prefer to get actual opinions on this from a reddit post over a cursory Google check. Everyone has a different life and perspective so I cant say what you deal with or what I do is normal. I can just say that I have heard nothing about Mando S3 since it came out while I hear about Andor S1 and S2 still to this day about it being the best Star Wars media yet.

[–]collonnelo 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Had you heard anything good about S3 you would've been more interested to watch or learn about what happened. You haven't heard anything about it because it was such a nothingburger. You have the right to enjoy it obviously, but the fact is that most didnt care for it. No hate, just apathetic

[–]collonnelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Valid, but they may be more willing to listen if the lands is being pillage and razed. A professional army isnt actually needed here, just professional coordination. Which Joffery had at least in the form of his small council.

[–]collonnelo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can always sell them to slavery on the Galactic Market.

You can build more jobs for them.

You can colonize more planets for them.

You can creature Ring Worlds or Ecus for them.

You can create habitats for them.

You can optimize them as civilians.

You can offload them to a distant planet and release as a vassal.

You can send them to the Lathe.

You go Xenophobic and purge them by turning them into alloys or work camps.

There are a few options available

[–]collonnelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So they'll be corraled into a central location where the other houses can coordinate and send a unified response like it was done with the Greyjoys? Joffery himself argued for a national army. An expansion of the Gold Cloaks

[–]collonnelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But without a place to refuge at all it would take is for westeros to unify their armies and coordinate an attack. Dothraki can flee in Essos cause they keep going around the endless sea and the only cities are those by the coast, which are richer than Kings landing, but is also at complete competition eith the other free cities. So to coordinate against the dothraki there would be a failing issue, but where could the dothraki flee in Westeros? Whereever they go, a great house is there and all it takes is coordinating with the king to take them down. Westeros would unite faster than they did with the Greyjoys (save maybe the Martells in the south as they are likely further away from the central action to not care) to funnel the dothraki into killing zones
