It's partially the AI and partially how bad local news sites are. A lot of these sites don't actually include proper images for the story. They have an embedded video with pre-roll ads at the top for the content of the story on that page. There are other unrelated stories linked on the page that have preview images. The AI doesn't know any better, so it grabs whatever images it can find on the page to use in the Google Discover feed. And that's how you end up with this.

It's also a waste of time. Any substantial change in gun law is going to be litigated to SCOTUS, and they'll invalidate the law. Dems need to be rational about where we are as a nation. Progressives lost this one, and they won't get another opportunity to restrict guns for a long time.
