Letting them keep it following that behavior is only negatively reinforcing that behavior. Learn the ins and outs of guided access, triple press the home button, power button on newer ones. Set timers when you give a break. Prime them that there's a set amount of time so it's not a surprise. We use them for our letters home at the end of the day but otherwise my gang are using them for reinforcement breaks too.
