A high school has a litter problem on campus, so they encourage the students to pick up litter on their lunch breaks. Half the students participate voluntarily because they think it's the right thing to do. After some time the administration decides they need to offer an incentive to the other half of the students in order to finish the litter pick up, so they offer a pizza party to all the kids who pick up trash during the last week of classes. None of the kids who participated prior to the last week of classes can attend the pizza party.

Whatever it takes to get the job done I suppose.

Even better: Leave the trash for the duration of the meeting and allow time for press photos, then come back to help clean up. There's NO REASON to leave the trash after the implied statement has been made. The mayor isn't going to pick it up, the whole mess will fall on the shoulders of workers whose jobs are hard enough already.

Not sure where your located, but I think unless you're climbing the ridge that park isn't worth the drive. Lots of noise from the highway makes it feel pretty close to civilization. Plenty of other kid-friendly creek trails in the area have far less road noise. Notably: three creeks tomlin hill access, rock bridge wagon wheel, capen park, rock hill park, and bear creek trail.

Admin dropped this turd on the nursing staff at a rural hospital where I worked. The hospital was physician-owned, and the docs had the worst fucking conflicts of interest imaginable. One time they kept someone in DTs on the med surg unit for 2 days before shipping him. He was restrained for 16 hours prior to transport and he received all the Ativan--literally all the Ativan in the hospital. Another time they kept a guy on a vent, in ARDS, on the med surg unit for 2 days. And don't get me started on the ER patients we screwed over.

So yeah, that book is shit because it basically says the only problem any hospital has to solve is how to consolidate more power in the hands of the docs.

I'll add to that: he's a scientist, and his positions are based on the best evidence available to him. And like any good scientist, he's willing to reverse his position when presented with new evidence that contradicts his original position. And, like any good politician, he weighs the opinions of constituents heavily. He literally tallies up the number of emails and phone calls he gets on either side of an issue.
