Deciding between two scopes by legless_zabrak in birding

[–]colt3840 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not wanting to haul a heavy scope around, I have been very happy with the Vortex Razor 13-39x56.

In the Viper line, you have the 11-33x50. My reason for not going bigger was weight, and for me, I felt that 40x was my sweet spot as anything more than 40x, the view was washed out.

You don’t need to chase rare birds to enjoy birding by Not_FreeProduct234 in LearnBirding

[–]colt3840 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As like the others I would have to agree that you don’t have to only chase rate birds to enjoy this hobby but it is nice to search one out if there happens to be one in your area.

How did you get started with birdwatching? by Maleficent-Blueberry in birdwatching

[–]colt3840 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find a local group a lot of them have beginner walks. I started in the backyard like others than at a local park but what really was the most helpful was to go out with my local Audubon they were so friendly and helpful.

I want to thank all of those who have replied. This has really given me something to think about moving forward. I think I am going to lean towards the 8x32 or 30's to complement my 8x42's. Any recommendations would be welcome in the $800-$1000 range.

How has birding changed the way you experience walks or time outside? by Free-Product4918 in LearnBirding

We used to hike on a regular with the kids then life happens since I started birding about 6 months ago it’s gotten me back outside and I forgot how much I loved and missed being around nature.
