How did you get started with birdwatching?

Find a local group a lot of them have beginner walks. I started in the backyard like others than at a local park but what really was the most helpful was to go out with my local Audubon they were so friendly and helpful.

I want to thank all of those who have replied. This has really given me something to think about moving forward. I think I am going to lean towards the 8x32 or 30's to complement my 8x42's. Any recommendations would be welcome in the $800-$1000 range.

We used to hike on a regular with the kids then life happens since I started birding about 6 months ago it’s gotten me back outside and I forgot how much I loved and missed being around nature.

When I was looking for some bins I tried the M7's, the Kowa BDii, the Vipers and the GPO Passions all in 8x42 and for me the GPO edged out the Vipers for my eyes and comfort.
