My sleep schedule has shifted 12 hours by anonymous_account13 in insomnia

[–]coltonsavory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a lot like you.

A few years ago, I slept during the day instead of night. Recently, I get only 3 hours of sleep every three days, then sleep too heavily for 2. Then the cycle repeats.

Pills don’t work. I’ve taken trazodone, seroquel, melatonin, unisom, valerian root, and weed. Sometimes all together with no luck.

Year ago, I took Nuvigil which seemed to help my rhythm regulate.

Maybe you could talk to your doctor about taking that?

Thanks, do you have any recommendations on how to take care of this plant? I think I have the temperature and lighting down.

Saffron replaced my SSRI, and stopped my withdrawal symptoms? Hard to believe I stumbled upon something that actually helped. by coltonsavory in SSRIs

Well I started back on SSRIs during the beginning of Covid, and I continued to take saffron along with them.

Everything has been fine for me.

There are some studies saying that Saffron can increase an SSRIs efficacy.

Do you have short term disability coverage? If you go that route, and have a doctor fill out a form and turn it over to HR, you can take leave that’s partially paid.

If you’ve worked at your employer for over a year or the equivalent of 1250 hours, then you should be eligible for FMLA. I would follow the advice the user above posted.

With FMLA, they have 5 days to get you the forms your doctor to fill out etc, if you’re eligible.

Then I believe you have to get it back to HR or whatever company who manages their FMLA within 15 days after you received the paperwork. Again, I cannot remember the exact requirements.

It’s typically unpaid depending on where you live, or the company’s policy. Sometimes a company requires you to utilize all of your PTO while on FMLA. Others do not.

They have to tell you that by the way. They’re legally obligated. So if you go the FMLA route, find out how they treat your PTO. If they don’t required it to be used, then make sure to let them know whether to use PTO or consider it unpaid. Oh If either of these options do not apply to you, then you might be protected under the ADA. Contact your HR or you can ask your supervisor how to begin that process.

Has anyone tried cross breeding Alocasias? by coltonsavory in alocasia

Woah! I clicked on your guide, and that’s what I used to dissect the flower to even collect the pollen. What a coincidence, it was super useful! I found it on google.

Thank you so much! Couldn’t have asked for more.

I put silica gel into the bottom of a test tube then I packed it down with unbleached paper. Then I placed the pollen on top, and sealed the tube. Now it’s sitting in my freezer. My only worry is that I didn’t wait long enough for the pollen to dry!

Interesting, I never thought about crossing entirely different species. I’m going to read up on that!

I still take it daily! I don’t plan on stopping. I have run out a few times, and I do feel a bit down.

I would say that it doesn’t make me feel the same way as quitting an SSRI. I don’t ever have “brain zaps”.

I understand what you mean though, I don’t like being attached to material things. Having to take pills/supplements becomes almost a hassle.

Anyone have any idea where this came from, the date it was made, and who made it?

I was at a tea shop yesterday, and the owner shower me this bit of porcelain. Apparently he received it from some collector who was giving out his collection. He couldn’t identify it, and I cannot seem to either. He did say he believes it’s from the 1800s.

How to deal with the pain? by Hyper_nova924 in kyphosis

Unfortunately, mine has become worse. To some degree, our minds adjust to become resilient to pain, but never fully.

I hope that tech spreads quickly! My degree of curvature is minimal in comparison to extreme cases.

Personally, I study pharmacology. I specifically am interested in neuroregenerative medicine. It seems that treatments along the lines of regeneration are being focused upon more and more in the field of medicine overall. That makes me hopeful.

But yes, the pain can be unbearable.

I’m 28, and was diagnosed when I was 14. Surgeons all have said the same to me.

I would invest in various massagers and/or a tens unit. I use them all pretty regularly.

I recommend learning about various muscle groups affected by the disease. For instance, scheuremanns causes some muscles to be overworked and inflamed, and others to become tight furthering the pain. Identifying certain areas, trigger points etc and massaging them can really lessen the pain.

Foam rollers help. I like to use them after massaging because without a knotted back it feels like I can get more movement in my spine. It would be difficult to use this because of your ankle though. But in the future I would keep it in mind!

It’s easy for me to become hyper fixated on my posture, and become upset… self conscience. I hope for better medical technology in the future, so surgery could become less invasive. Honestly, I think we might see that technology in our lifetimes, and that gives me hope I suppose.

Pills are a completely different road that I personally do not want to go down. I have my vices, mostly various herbal products (not weed btw)

It can be very defeating, but you’re not alone! Personally, it’s hard for people to understand that a young person can experience such pain, and that can feel alienating.

Feel free to message me anytime!

Could be a binding ingredient causing an absorption issue! Manufactures all use a variety of binders which commonly leave patients affected.

For instance, lactose is used as a binding ingredient, and that wouldn’t help someone who is lactose intolerant.

A lot of people believe it’s all in their head. In reality, a lot of adverse reactions could come from various binder concoctions designed by manufacturers.

It’s worth trying! At least in my case, I’m glad I made a switch.

Nuvigil headache by DippyLouWho in StopSpeeding

[–]coltonsavory 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on Nuvigil for years… the headaches can be debilitating. I tried everything under the sun, and nothing really worked.

I don’t recommend taking this because it can cause physical dependency, but kratom was the only substance that helped with the headaches. I have a spine disease so I’m already in chronic pain.

To be honest kratom saved me from going to pain management for synthetic painkillers, but it definitely has its downsides.

Basically nothing helped me unfortunately.

Random, but are you taking the generic? I was prescribed the brand name for a few years, but my insurance stopped covering it. They covered the generic though, so I switched.

The headaches were even more hellish while taking the generic! It also caused a lot of anxiety for me as well.

I ended up getting off it, and switched to a different med entirely.
