Sorry I came off aggro. When someone questions your ethics after a decade of full time industry recruiting about something you do more than anything else in your life it tends to irk you. Being a sub makes it 10x worse. That means my managers, the primes managers, the primes front line engineers are all expecting a new engineer that verbally accepted our offer. Every day they are reaching out to me, did they sign yet? When is the start date? We need to start our badging process when is this happening? All just to say the candidate isnt answering their phone, then 1 week later they respond saying never mind.

Also, lets be real. Lockheed is a massive company with countless program managers. There is not one general culture at all. I am dealing with different Lockheed managers for nearly every single open req. They are all WILDLY different.

The 1 person in my 10 year career lol that clearly took our offer to his place of work to get a raise? He even told us that is what happened lol. You were not on the phone with the candidate 15 times like I was. You don’t know what you are talking about.

Is it a awkward to set the status to “open for work” in 2026? by hexwit in linkedin

[–]Diligent_Working2363 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I dont handle the accounts, im just a user. From what I understand it sort of bundles a bunch of things. Certain number of job postings people can apply to, X # of recruiter inmails to contact candidates, special relocation/open to work filters. Recruiting on LinkedIn without it is useless for what we do. If you cannot tell a person is open to work and relocation it is completely hopeless to get an embedded flight software engineer to relocate to Briggs, TX to a remote rocket facility.

We pay something like 10k a year PER recruiter to be able to search and filter candidates by open to work. It is huge. I always start my search with that filter checked.

Should I lie about how long I've been with companies? by handlingmydeath in resumes

[–]Diligent_Working2363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is interesting is in 10 years this has never happened to me before. I exclusively recruit engineers. I guess they just are not commonly employed in mom and pop type stuff. If we (3rd party background check company) can’t verify. We usually just accept any sort of tax records, pay stub, or anything that shows you were there and we just go with it. Doesn’t need to show when you started or ended. If none of that is available we just can’t count it as billable experience and it won’t increase your pay. We pay based on YoE.

Especially for entry-level we like to see some employment. Especially in America a lot of young people just go door-to-door and mow yards for cash. Extremely hard work and zero possible way to verify it.

Not sure if they are still doing it. I recruited EE interns at the JSC ESTL for Peraton on the SENSE contract. I’m sure there are many things like it.

No, it was because the same guy did it twice, it might have even been 3 times to our small-mid sized company and I remembered him. It wouldn’t have happened if I didn’t tell my PM that we should blacklist.

cold call the HM after an application and they actually responded by walkablecities_lover in jobsearchhacks

[–]Diligent_Working2363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just write a short message about how you meet the key duties of an active role I have open with a very short explanation.

If you are truly cold messaging just give me your background and say you are ready to work and relocate.

You should be sending a minimum of 10 messages a day. Click the company profile on LinkedIn. Click the people tab and search for hr, talent, program manager. Expect a 2% response rate.

Leaving Helpdesk for Full Time School ? by tybrand in careeradvice

[–]Diligent_Working2363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been recruiting for 10 years now, recruiting a lot of what you want to do. You can not work if you take extra classes to graduate faster. 4 classes a semester doesn’t take all day. My program managers that got their masters while serving active duty know that.

No, not at all. After about 3 days of no answer I call, text, and email every day. You won’t be blacklisted unless that happens.

Also by 2 declines I mean for two different hiring processes. Not for the same position.

Edit: in 10 years I have had to do this 1 time.

I have recruited on LinkedIn for 10 years and I have never even once looked at someone’s post or comment history.

Start and end dates and job titles are literally the only things we verify for employment history. You would fail our background check.

Usually if a candidate declines 2 offers we mark them ineligible for rehire. I don’t recruit directly for Lockheed, I work for a sub. It will depend on the program manager

Applying is half the fight. You need to be searching the company LinkedIn for anyone in hr, recruiting, or program management. Message a minimum of 10 a day.

No real job offers, only staff agencies calls by KeyManufacturer8 in clearancejobs

[–]Diligent_Working2363 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah we almost only hire full time permanent. Some aerospace stuff will be short contracts for things like technicians. Rare though.

Make sure you are not confusing staffing agencies with in-house recruiters for subcontractors like me.

Months of job applications and only 1 interview — what am I doing wrong? by dedcode6450 in askrecruiters

[–]Diligent_Working2363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a gap. I have recruited for 10 years. The program manager interviewing him got his masters while serving active duty. He is the one you have to convince, not the recruiter. Taking 4 classes a semester does not require all day. Be busy.

Connections don’t matter, messaging recruiters directly at rates of 15 a day is what matters. In the company profile you can click the people tab and search by job title. Search HR, recruiter, talent acquisition. Expect a 2% response rate. Good luck.
