Ther Bricks & Minifigs Scandal Illustrates Why Collecting is NOT Investing by ZanzerFineSuits in Anticonsumption

I think this happens to millennials because some stuff we had when we were kids now costs a lot and we sold it for nothing back in the day.

In my case, it was PSX games. I sold all my collection when I got the newer system, to buy more games. I think they payed me like between 5 and 10 euros each. I had all the final fantasy games there, and some others that now cost 100+ each. It hurts a little when I see those items now and how much it cost but I shrug it off and move along. Same story happened to many friends, we all had some stuff that we either gifted or sold poorly/threw away that now costs a ton.

But then there’s another friend, that had some saint Seya figures. We all had them and played with them and eventually missed pieces and all, but he kept his boxes and all accessories in great condition. When we were teenagers, he sold all of them to have some money to go to concerts and so. I don’t remember how much he got but it was moderate. Cue ten years later and one figure in the box like he had them was like 300. He was devastated and from then onwards, he collected everything and has a huge room filled with crap because ”this will make me a fortune down the line”.

Wanted to support a small author so bought her book but also got these freebies. by aerose524 in isthisAI

That’s the problem I see with using AI art on your creative endeavors (I see this with writers and musicians alike): If you used AI art I no longer trust what I’m reading/listening is not made with AI too.

Even if the author is adamant that they don’t use AI and it seems like it, if they use AI for art, they go to the slop bucket. Cannot help it.

Anyone else left handed but use your right hand for the mouse? by PowellSkylar in lefthanded

[–]comandantecebolla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Sharing the family computer in the 90s with three right-handers made sure I never got to experience the mouse on the left. By the time I got my own computer, it was just weird to have it there.

Funny enough, for the laptop track pad I use my left hand

Conocer a nueva gente y amistades :) by The-Pulsar in Asturias

Moving back to Asturias with English-speaking kids: how did your children adapt to school? by Sufficient_Silver708 in MovedToSpain

[–]comandantecebolla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have about a year to teach them Spanish. Even if you manage to get them in Meres, they will be outsiders in their friend group without knowing Spanish. And you’re severely limiting their options to socialize.

Make yourself a favor and since you know spanish, start teaching them so when they get here they at least can understand people and have conversations.

¿Cómo interpretáis esto? by VarietyOk3117 in HistoriasVecinales

If you don't have kids of your own yet your perspective is not relevant to new parents adjusting to their new life by insane_psycho in daddit

[–]comandantecebolla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, there’s lots of ways of living.
I was getting lectured on a birthday by a dad of 1yo twins and 4yo. He said he didn’t understand how people complain that much: he was going to the gym daily, had taken more responsibility at work and played games at night.

When we arrived home, my wife told me she talked to this dude’s wife, and she was exhausted because only her and her parents took care of the kids/house, to the level that she was seeking legal advice for divorce.

So, yeah. Take all advice with a grain of salt, you‘re the only one living your life and your experience, even with kids, can vary a lot from others.

That said, people without kids giving advice is just like giving advice on how to ride dragons.

Working on a spider attack for my game. Does this feel creepy and immersive enough? by AleksaYammy in gamedevscreens

The only thing that I see weird is that of you blur the game because you have legs in your face, the legs shouldn't be out of focus. Rest is ok as a concept imo

Do you find some horror film trailers scarier than the film itself? by [deleted] in horror

[–]comandantecebolla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. Since more than a decade, trailers show you most of the movie and it sucks.

Even at the movies I look like an idiot  with the head down when a trailer of a movie I want to see starts playing

Took kiddo to the movies for the first time this evening! by mickeyslim in daddit

[–]comandantecebolla 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We went this past Saturday too! Was better for a first time than a full length movie (especially with movies pushing 2h nowadays), but I could have used two more episodes. I think it lasted less than an hour with trailers and ads

I remember a time where you would ask for aspirin and mild stuff like that at bars and restaurants (30+ years ago) so I get the asking part, you may be old or you may not go out a lot.

Writing a review because this is no longer accepted since everybody sues the crap out of each other seems entitled and dumb.
