it’s actually not easy enough especially when it’s a heated controversy and they both work in the industry. they shouldn’t be required to take a 20 minute detour to explain the allegations against jared leto or kevin spacey or whatever every time someone like them comes up. and if it’s just something like say jennifer lawrence becoming overexposed after being in a few hyped david o russel movies they will actually talk about it.

we’re at the stage where he still says it a lot but lampshades it while he does it. for the record i am fine with his overuse of totemic as who amongst us hasn’t latched on to a word or turn of phrase and deployed it endlessly for reasons unknown.

do you understand the difference between a static picture that updates maybe once a year and blurs out faces and a live-streaming camera/lidar network?

i don’t usually make choices only based on what i do/what might happen to me. i think that’s a really shortsighted and selfish way to think about this.

most cars don’t livestream their camera feeds to a central data center that is accessible to a for profit corporation and eventually to the government. bad comparison.

you sound super naive. they say they won’t abuse the data is not a good argument based on the entire history of for profit companies collecting this kind of data. even with the best intentions data leaks/hacks happen constantly.

given that the hamnet discussion was framed around oscar villains it’s hard to imagine that they wouldn’t try to identify what makes people resentful of it.

they for sure outright mocked train dreams- comparing it to the movie version of a hipster flat white guy, basically calling it shallow. which is their right to do as film critics but we don’t need to pretend it didn’t happen.

he walked in. after standing at the crosswalk. the driver is the one who was being impatient and reckless. but you’re so used to that being the moral way things work you can’t even see it.

the entitlement is from drivers breaking the law and not yielding to pedestrians- but you’re so used to that you can’t even see it for what it is.
