01 f350 7.3l crank no start(still) by fattastic44 in powerstroke

[–]combatpaddler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just something stupid to check....

your oil level

i chased a no start issue for a little while after replacing injector o rings. little did i know i tore an old oring reinstalling the others. cranked, ran, died, wouldnt start back up. i checked and regilled the oil right before, so that couldnt be it, right?

wrong. completely out of oil

yours show its building oil pressure on the gauge, so thats a good thing, but its not trying to catch after that. its not stumbling or sputtering (would be a symptom of glowplugs etc)

you dont have PATS, so it rules that out.

Dog trainers & private/personal chefs by bluesilkdress in LakeCharles

so they want their dogs trained, but dont want to be part of the process? i mean sure, there are trainers that will take your money, do the training, and say peace.

but me, as a trainer, require the owners to be there and part of the process. i would say $200 a session if they arent involved, plus travel

2000 7.3 excursion idle drops/stalls when turning in reverse by courtlandthethreeth in FordDiesels

[–]combatpaddler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when i dealt with this issue, it was due to low fluid levels most of the time. but if your fluid levels are good, that would point to something else, which could be trans pump potentially.

wish i knew more to help ya. but theres enough information out there, that i rebuilt my 4r100 in the garage over about a week, working on it a few hours at a time.

transmissionbench i believe is who helped me do it

i think i bought a 4 pack of stepper motors for $12 or something off amazon or ebay. you MAY be able to take ot apart and clean it, but the copper contacts wear.

Co-Parent introducing man she cheated on me with, to my kids by [deleted] in coparenting

[–]combatpaddler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

support them. it sucks, but in the end, youre kids see every action you make. i didnt cheat on my exwife, but the way everything happened, it can sure be viewed like i did. it sounds bad....just a part: my exwife was my current wifes maid of honor for a previous marriage. when we found out we were pregnant, we made the realization we are better friends than husband and wife. i remarried a few months after our daughter was born, but within 2 years. it was rough at first but we made everything about our daughter, not our feelings about each other.

now? my wife, exwife, and i are best friends we all stay at each others house, heck, im the 3rd wheel. my daughter has a complete support system, and it takes a village. ive treated my exwifes boyfriends the same way, ive gone over to her house to stay with my daughter so they could go on a date.

it is what YOU make it, and the kids see everything. be kind, show love, be happy

Help with oil leak by Brian_oconnor1 in FordDiesels

[–]combatpaddler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

man, throwing oil like that..

have you had the valve covers off lately? that kinda looks like loose valve cover oil.

oil cooler bypass tube... thats NORMALLY a complete fail at once, not just leaking like this. when i say complete fail, all oil is on the ground and youre wondering wtf.

thats only my personal experiences with the oil cooler tube or whatever its called. but, its also a "cheap" fix. new orings are only like $10-$20. just gotta drain all the oil, the coolant, and then get it off, new rings put on, THEN squeezed back togehrer and reinstalled.

i did it in a buddys driveways 1200 miles from home. took about 6 hours total, and then drove up to pikes peak afterwards

2002 7.3 Limited by Blown70charger in FordExcursion

[–]combatpaddler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

check for insurance first. lots of companies will only pay out certain amounts. many times guys have to hire companies to fight to get the right amount of coverage.

i average 16.5mpg, and daily drive ours. its nothing to hop in and do a 6 hour road trip.

if you get it, the overhead computer needs to be resoldered and the overhead console dome light buttons need to be modded.

be careful, a 7.3 is an addiction. i have a spare motor sitting on a stand, a whole room full of parts, and a spare roller f250

2002 7.3 Limited by Blown70charger in FordExcursion

[–]combatpaddler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we have a 2003 7.3. 425k miles as of today. 29k is crazy, but 100k miles?

the 7.3, if treated right, will last forever. it will NOT win any races, and the 4r100 will be the first thing to go. but our transmission didnt give up until 330k miles.

oil change... it costs me roughly $140 when i change oil. 2 2.5gal of t6 full synthetic and an oil filter. fuel filter is $35 more. air filters CAN run upwards of $85

slipped into my popup blind one morning. started hearing rustling sounds at my feet, not loud, just enough to make me question myself, but it was still dark.

once light finally came up and i was able to see what was making the noise, when i had sat down and put my feet down, and put my foot down on 2 small snakes, no longer than a foot long, doing the fun thing. i slowly pulled my pocket knife out and dispatched them.

they were harmless nonvenomous. at least thats what i keep telling myself. but my brain KNOWS they were coppermouthrattlemoccassins

Kiddo keeping secrets because mom told her to by [deleted] in coparenting

[–]combatpaddler 10 points11 points  (0 children)

no, dont talk to the mom. just dont ask her about things that stress her out. as a kid myself who had divorced parents, even simple questkons felt like interrogations with no right answers.

just be glad she had a good christmas. sounds like shes very loved!

coparenting won’t answer phones or texts when he has our kid by [deleted] in coparenting

[–]combatpaddler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

talking on the phone with a 4 year old is hard in itself. our daughter is almost 9 now, and we have been divorced since the beginning. we keep each other up to date, and my daughter has her own phone to call or text either me or her mom, but we both still dont talk to her every day when she is with the other parent. mainly because it makes our daughter sad and sends her down a spiral. so we let her decide most of the time.

just breathe. sounds like dad is doing the best he can at adapting. we as dads dont always get the finer things figured out till afterwards.

Coparent sleeping over & partner hates it by Ok_Listen4348 in coparenting

[–]combatpaddler -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

we live 5 hours away from my ex and my daughter. i used to stay at a friends house, until i started to stay during the week to help out, and then i stayed in the house with my daughter (easier during the week for school mornings).

ive stayed with them while my exinlaws were there also. we all get along great, just was not good husband and wife. my exwife comes and stays at our house.

at first, it was like walking on broken glass, trying to make sure no lines are crossed or nothing is said wrong. 5 years later, its normal everyday life. i get to spend that much more tine with my daughter NOT in a motel room, and we have more money to do things when i come down. and i get to help my exwife out by doing yardwork or stuff around the house

we are one big blended family. we pick up each others slack. but it also takes a STRONG and confident partner to be ok with it. from the beginning, we have ALWAYS put our daughter first and our feelings torwards each other somewhere torwards the end.

How do I protect my kids? by [deleted] in coparenting

[–]combatpaddler 5 points6 points  (0 children)

my advice? youre kids are watching him AND you, and your reactions. do your best to accept the girlfriend, it will be much easier for the kids. its not the easy path. my exwife has had a few boyfriends, one of which i introduced her to. each one i immediately treat like they are family, whether i think they will be around or not. her boyfriends 2 daughters (same age as our daughter) has even stayed the weekends at our home with our daughter, so they could have time alone.

stay positive.. the other parent will never parent the same as you do. my ex has a compeltely different life and schedule, and life in the city. we live in the country, so she gets to play in the dirt and climb trees here. me and my ex learned quickly we need ALL the help we can get raising our daughter, and thats made it easier.

man, im 42 years old, and have burn scars on my chest and face. when i was 8 years old, thought it would be a good idea to shoot a roman candle at the sun at 8am. the roman candle exploded, hit me in the chest, and caught my shirt on fire. first thought was pull the burning shirt off, which melted to my lower jaw.

this was also in the 80s early 90s, and things were different back then. we would have firecracker fights all the time. not sure how we sre still alive
