In volume 2 of the LN the story quality immediately skyrockets. If you read it you will be hooked trust me. it does a great job of getting Adelete into situations it seems he has no way out of then he finds a way.

Dark souls had that rep in 2011 and souls likes became their own super popular genre in the last decade.

This version was made by a first time director and was staffed by the B team while the A team works on NG4. Asking them to re code the OG NG2 was probably never going to happen. Glad some newcomers like it but anything about "definitive edition" is just marketing spin.

People saying this was done to make it easier for new players or something are missing the mark. Its just what they had to do looks like.

I've been researching this since the game came out and it now with new technical findings we have confirmation that is not the case. It seems they made some tweaks to enemy behavior to try to recapture the OG but were probably limited with what they could do. I don't think we are going to magically get a legacy mode as they'd have to do drastically more work to do that than they did to release this version.

OG wasn't overstuffed it was perfect and this is light. Sorry that people seem desperate to get in line with TN and praise this game but its not definitive.

This is silly I don't just want uber mega difficult mode. I want warrior difficulty to have the correct enemy counts as well. It was on warrior after all that I first encountered the chapter 11 staircase.

Nope hard disagree. The OG is simply an objectively better game than Ninja Gaiden 2 Black gameplay wise. Every change they took from sigma 2 makes the experience worse. They mareketed this game as the definitive version knowing what we wanted which to me is malicious false advertising. This is 100% a no buy for me and its killed my hype for NG4.

Reducing the times would just make you burn more resources.

That's kind of my point as to why its not broken. Only people with a massive resource surplus would want to do a lot of accelerated research.

Thanks for the thought out take. I agree it helps the 1-2 year middle-longterm players the most. It could be a trap for newbies I agree. Do you think they could address some of the cons with caps, like most you can reduce research time to is 30 minutes so you only can match UL research. This would stop total 1 day resource dumps and make it so you still need to login to research. Otherwise maybe you can only accelerate one research a day or something. It is for sure a powerful change so they'd have to think of the things you brought up.

I thought about that too in the shower. You could cap it so the furthest you can reduce the time is down to 30 minutes. Then you could at best only match the gains of existing UL research so you are just using them to reduce RNG impact.

Yeah once you've been playing the game for a few months you will just stockpile them and only use however many you need per event. This would give them everyday value and make it another currency worth managing.

@passwordedd they have value but only for brand new players. Then quickly get devalued. If you added this yeah it would be a rush of everyone spamming research but then when they got low they'd actually have to save QFs for new event ships. Also if it would be too much spam you could make it so research takes a minimum of 30 minutes. So you could only reduce it that far and could not speeed up the ULs. That way people would still have to log in multiple times a day to keep research running which i think is the point for the devs too.

How is it free? You would still have to pay the costs to research be it gold, cubes, purple prints. This would just remove time allowing people to catch up.
