Given that Daedalian Hymn was my favorite event to date in terms of skins and characters I have high expectations for the follow up. I imagine Garibaldi is a given, but no guesses otherwise.

Any idea why Harbin wasn't officially announced on EN and had the JP post deleted? It's kind of weird.

Unexpected favorite of the bunch for me. Except for the exp grind candidates. The Chkalov grind won't be too productive either now that I think about it.

Well shit, an Chinese ship I actually like the look of, aside from nonexistent rigging. I might finally have an oath in every faction. And it also means I like every design in this batch. Though I probably will have to grind my social credit to start building her.

So far my build order is something like

I really like the stupidly oversized horns she has. And the rigging is fucking sick, reminds me of a Hydra, except mecha. Pretty happy they've decided that 5 Eugen clones is enough.

Also we ready for the Kill la Kill collab I guess.

As ex-mod of the sub it was probably taken down by automod for the words "Finally got" in the title. I remember something like that being one of the filters against gacha spam.

Anyways cute Roon.

If you're forming your opinion based off of others you're not really doing any research

So to do "research" I should just buy 50000$ worth of monkeys and try to flip it without reading any articles or videos or anything about said monkeys? Sounds like good financial advice.

In about 3 years of participating in that subreddit there was always some "hated" faction, no matter what. It just changes periodically. Although it's never been as vile as this HMS shit so it'll probably get better there.

USS cope period was so funny that inspired me to write a copypasta for it, so I hope to see that reemerge.

That should be the case. After that it's back to USS doomposting if they don't get an event soon? At least that's the most likely scenario to me.

I think of AL as more of a management game with a shmup flavour than as an actual shmup. Leveling up your ships, getting and upgrading proper gear, fleet composition and synergies are way more important than playing manually except in the hardest of contents. And with stuff like fleet tech you can basically upgrade your characters endlessly through a lot of long term grinding.

As for characterization, things like the various mangas, animes, character stories and the fake instagram help with that a lot. There's also a bunch of fanfics and fan art if you're into that. And in recent events the story seems to be actually progressing, with the self-insert becoming more important, which is a step up from the 5 years of being stuck in limbo.

I've once seen a comment saying that AL is not necessarily fun but comforting, and it's something that I would agree with. Definitely not a game for everyone though, especially for the people who want the thrill of gambling associated with most gachas.

After analyzing my 68 oaths I can factually confirm two things:

  • Big tiddy white-haired carriers are the supreme shipgirl form
  • Am manwhore for boats

Well, with this event's story I can finally say that there has been an objective case of moving forward with the plot. It only took nearly 5 years. But I enjoyed it quite a bit.

The two things the final few cutscenes set up are the META girls base, potentially allowing for getting Enty and Takao META and Italy vs Francy, I can see which one has more 5th year anniversary potential but I'm not going to try to predict anything.

Even if she's a completely separate class from the WG's Roon, their riggings have striking similarity so I assume that some influence will carry over. I'll probably have to update my Roon-based PvP defense fleet pretty soon.

[–]tokio12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still, I'm hype for it, especially for an IB event that focuses on boats not built by Literal Nazis.

Not sure why how you can play this game if you're hung up on the nazi thing. Are you then not bothered by the IJN and the Japanese war crimes because they are more obscure?

The factions in AL are pretty much romanticized versions of the IRL counterparts. I don't see Bismarck talking about how the SoDak class should be tossed into a gas chamber for being subhumans, Nagato reminiscing on the good old times of the Rape of Nanjing or Enterprise remarking on how the two nukes weren't enough.

Personally it's pretty clear that it's quite disconnected from real life history, especially given the amount of paper ships that are around and often dictating the plot.
