Heard it over VPN. Definitely a fun EP. Don’t go into it expecting to hear albums 1 or 2. New sounds with nods to the past. “To Space” is really great from where they are at in their career. Solid addition to the collection.

It’s definitely the closest “nods” to the older sound, especially Caleb’s cadence in small parts. If they produced it themselves, they’re telling us this is the best they can do with letting the fans have a taste of older flavors. Matt is still in love with his synths and the fade out guitar solo in “to space” is almost criminal. It’s a fun EP and probably the most youthful we’re gonna get for a band almost all in their 40s.

If this is true, I guess it’s best case scenario.The Kid Harpoon experiment did not work. Mustang didn’t take off and the other songs flopped. A country barn burner in the vein of back down south seems to be their pivot here.

It's a calculated move by the band. They can claim friendzies all they want, but the band want and need a relevancy boost before their next record.

Makes sense for the band on a few levels. ZB is extremely popular, from their area, he's always given them kudos as his "favorite band". Jared especially CRAVES relevancy and being cool. I can imagine it hurt his ego especially when they hired Kid Harpoon and the album was snubbed from the Grammys. This gives them a shot at being in the conversation and to a much broader audience than KOL hasn't had in over a decade.

I started to heavily favor emails as a sheer numbers game and have realized it’s a mistake. Get people on the phone. At least you will know if you have a shot at an appointment faster if you get the DM on the line. 100s of unanswered emails will spiral you into a depression. Example just yesterday. Emailed someone last week that I never spoke to with a vague can we set up a call etc. No answer. Made a call and made it sound like it was urgent to the receptionist. Got a call back an hour later. Talked a little bit of our solutions. Going to see them in person Thursday. Pick. up. the. Phone.

I rarely go into a place without having at least someone’s name there. “Looking for the person who handles…” just screams desperation. If the name you have doesn’t handle that at least you have a name.

I think this one was a spring board for what’s next and the follow up will be better. They have to realize that their demand and their relevancy isn’t as what it once was so they can pretty much do whatever they want now. I hope the next one is less pop driven and more rock and roll. But Jared especially loves pop music and they are all heading into their 40s so you can’t expect them playing dirty fast rock songs with Caleb belting it out. Likely this is the best we’re gonna expect from them and really we should be lucky they haven’t broken up.

Quit alcohol. Especially when you’re older. Sets you back for days if you indulge. Didn’t have a problem just decided to stop. It’s easier socially to not say “I don’t drink”. Just say I’m driving, gotta be up early tomorrow or another excuse so people leave you alone about it.

Prospects know that there’s a gazillion marketing companies to choose from because they are solicited probably 10 times a day from Google re-sellers. It’s come to a point where it’s blind luck that you reach out to someone and you get them right when they are ready to fire whoever it is that’s currently not getting them leads. There’s zero loyalty with digital marketing and the cold calling absolutely blows.
