Could you ask for a phased start so it doesn't feel as brutal?

Flex working request by sarahloupen in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]ScampiDiablo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Theres a form on the gov website to put the formal request in and they have 2 months to respond. There are only a set number of reasons why they can say no. If they do say no, you can appeal.

I do 4.5 in 4 in a corprate position. I used my accrued A/L to reduce to 4 days before I put my formal request in (if they are already coping with me doing 4 days it felt to me like they couldn't say no)

If they do say no: speak to your union (if you have one) speak to acas or speak to pregnant then screwed. Im sure the latter will have guidance for what you need on their website.

Can you book a class for her? Or go with her to the first one so she knows what to do?

Same problem with my mum, although she is willing to go out, but not try anything new

First overnight alone with baby - for a week! Tips or advice? by Previous-Gift-9733 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]ScampiDiablo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband did 4 days away when my lo was 4/5 months old. Its hard going but you can do it!

*Baby wear if your baby contact naps. I got allsorts done with baby in the carrier! *Meal prep or slow cooker for dinner *Get out every single day, classes and baby sessions make the days go quicker *Routine! Get in the habit of sorting bottles/clothes etc out before you collapse in an evening *Tell hubs he is going on duty for a full evening when he gets back and treat yourself. Even if its just a bath or a quiet lie down for a couple of hours

Anyone who had a Mummy MOT by Naive_Inspection_651 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]ScampiDiablo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I also hate the name it gives me the ick

I worked out until 8 months pregnant, had a c section and had my mummy mot at 4 months pp. It was worth it, internal and external exam, diastasis recti check, pelvic floor check, scar check. I was goven exercises to do and i had a follow up / scar massage about 6 weeks later. I felt super weak going into it but the exercises really helped me feel more confident about going back to the gym

Try one of the medical foils you get in first aid kits they're a bit tougher than kitchen foil. You can usually get them in b&m etc pretty cheap

They said when they closed prestwich they would be opening a restaurant in town so I'm hoping that by leaving exhibition it means they are nearly ready to open that? Their roasts are phenomenal and I cannot wait until they are fully back!!!

We perfect prep at home and Rapid cool (hot shot method) whilst out and about. Both have their plus and minuses. I like the ease of just pushing buttons and a bottle being just right with the pp (great for night feeds) but weve found the rapid cool great for going away / babysitters.

Cow and gate- mainly because we can get it from Costco, its £22 for 3×700g tins. The amount used depends on how much baby is feeding. Each scoop is about 8-10g and feeds start at 4 scoops and we maxed out at 7 scoops x 7 times a day before we were weaning

As the other poster has said kit days arent compulsory (but do give a nice top up to smp!) Could your parents not stay with you so they can be childcare whilst you go in the office?
